Gesture tracking is a secondary control system on quest 2 (meaning the hardware is not optimizing for it), but on Meta's future products, this could change, with gesture control in the outdoors likely to become the primary control system. This means that Meta needs to let developers build more applications to work with hand tracking, and this latest version represents the latest in a series of samples released by Meta to show how developers can use the system to support powerful interactions.

As a result, for Unreal developers, this sample project includes reusable components based on Hand Tracking First Steps and the more powerful hand tracking mechanics in Tiny Castles. The mechanisms covered in the sample include teleportation, grabbing, throwing, and pressing buttons. Meta even released the source code for "Oculus Presentation of Hand Tracking-Based Interactions in Unreal" on Github.
