A small part of Mother Earth
Text/Megeraitis
The stone is the body of Mother Earth,
The steep mountain is her spine,
Rivers, which are veins and arteries ...
My flesh is also the creation of the earth:
I grow from the flowers of the field,
Grows from rain and north winds.
I am the water, the weather, the flames, the branches,
It is also the movement of the white clouds.
I'm from snowflakes, from grass stems,
Heavy wild fruits from autumn,
Yellow sand from the river,
Green bushes from autumn crops.
I come from the grain of the earth,
Rye bread from labor;
I also come from grain by grain of barley,
From the intoxicating kubweed.
I come from the blend of fish and water,
Shale from fiery smelting...
I come from an apple among the leaves,——
It reminds us of a model of the sun.
I am a small part of Mother Earth,
Flowing through riverbeds and branches,
I rose from the ashes again,
Like a tender stem with elasticity.

Megeraitis, Soviet-Lithuanian poet. Born into a working family. Engaged in underground work in the Communist Youth League. Studied in the law department of the university. During the Great Patriotic War, he worked as a military journalist. He began publishing in 1935. The first collections of poems, such as Lyric Poems (1943), The Wind Blowing from the Fatherland (1946), and My Nightingale (1952), were close to the lyrical tradition of the Lithuanian poetess Neris. The Psalms of the Brethren (1954) celebrates the fraternity and cooperation of the people, expressing respect for labor and culture. In the 1950s, new forms of creation began to be explored. In 1961, he completed the poetry collection "Man", which celebrates the love of people, and won the Lenin Literary Prize in 1962. His prose works include Lyrical Miscellaneous (1964), Butterflies at Night (1966), And Here Is Lithuania (1968), interspersed with poems. In addition, there is the academic work "Baroko of Anta Kalinis" (1971), and has translated the works of many Russian poets.
