Jingdian accused Lowe′s of infringing the LED filament bulb patent, and the US court ruled in favor

On the 16th, Jingyuan Optoelectronics (Jingdian) announced that it won the jury trial in the Lowe′s case; the jury of the Central District Court of California unanimously found that Lowe′s intentionally infringed three LED filament bulb patents of Jingdian.

Lowe′s sale of 64 LED filament bulbs manufactured by Zhejiang Sunshine Lighting Group Co., Ltd. was found by the jury to intentionally infringe on the claims of U.S. Patent No. 8,492,780 ('780 Patent) Claims No. 1, 3, 7, 6,346,771 ('771 Patent) Claims 38, and Claims No. 7,560,738 ('738 Patent) No. 1-3 and 8.

In addition, the jury also found that Lowe′s failed to prove that the '771 patent lost its novelty, and confirmed the validity of the '771 patent.

The WTC complaint states that the LED filament bulb sold by Lowe′s infringed several DTW patents, including the '771 patent, the invention name "high power LED lamp", the '780 patent, the invention name "light emitting device and its manufacturing method", the '738 patent, the invention name "light-emitting diode array with a bonded layer".

The jury decided that Lowe′s would pay JINGDIAN US$2.12 million in damages, further affirming the value and importance of TSMC's led filament bulb patent, and based on the jury's decision of intent to infringe, TSMC would claim aggravated damages against Lowe′s.
