According to ESPN, in response to the growing COVID-19 pandemic, several clubs are pushing for a temporary suspension of the Premier League.

Due to the rapid spread of the Omiljung variant virus, there have been a number of teams in the Premier League that have been widely infected, and some league executives have been proposed to temporarily suspend the Premier League until 8 or 9 January, which means that the Premier League will be postponed for four rounds.

A number of Premier League games have been postponed so far, including Manchester United's games against Brentford and Brighton. United reportedly only have nine first-team players available to play against Brentford, while only seven can play against Brighton.
