In 1936, in Dangling Mountain, a Red Army soldier still raised his arm high after his death, clutching his party card and silver dollars

The poets said that there is no mountain higher than man, no road longer than a foot. During the Long March of the Red Army, our soldiers were dressed in rags, had no food or clothing, and with full enthusiasm and strong will for the revolution, climbed snowy mountains and crossed meadows, completed the twenty-five thousand-mile journey, and won the victory of the revolution. Today, we send them that verse to express our admiration for them in our hearts, and it is clear that it is not enough.

In 1936, in Dangling Mountain, a Red Army soldier still raised his arm high after his death, clutching his party card and silver dollars

Dangling Mountain, a large snowy mountain in Danba County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, is 56 kilometers away from the county seat of Danba. From northwest to southeast, in a north-south direction, the main peak Xia Qiangla towering into the clouds, has always been listed in the Murdo Mountains as the center of the surrounding mountains of the important sacred mountains, 5470 meters above sea level, the main peak is surrounded by a group of peaks, generally above 4600 meters above sea level, the northwest of the Haizi Mountain main peak 5500 meters above sea level, is the highest of the peaks, in the Bayan Kara trough fold belt.

The name of Dangling Mountain, legend has it that it comes from the ancient Qiang people who moved south, dangxiang qiang passed through this territory, so the "dangling" is still used to this day. Dangling Mountain is also one of the snow-capped mountains crossed by the Red Army's Long March in 1935, leaving many relics and legends of the Red Army under the mountain and on the mountain. Because there were pursuing soldiers later, when the Red Army crossed this mountain, there was not much preparation, many people only wore single clothes and straw shoes, food was scarce, and there were many wounded people who needed to be carried on stretchers and some heavy equipment.

Our story begins with a Political Commissar of the Red Army surnamed Zhang. After the troops went up dangling mountain, the first report that Commissar Zhang received was that 15 stretcher bearers had died that day. In this regard, everyone is a little confused, thinking that the mimeograph machine and some bulky and heavy objects that are carried every day should have been lost long ago. Political Commissar Zhang was a little reluctant and said: "Comrades, the barrel of a gun is a weapon that can hit the world, but this mimeograph machine is the barrel of a pen, and it is also a weapon, and we cannot fight the world without it!" Before Commissar Zhang finished speaking, an injured battalion commander climbed over and said, "Commissar, please throw me away, I won't live long, and it is still useful to keep the mimeograph machine..." Before the battalion commander finished speaking, several wounded people rolled down from the stretcher, and they who could no longer walk did not want the comrades to carry them away.

The next day, when the troops came to a cliff, Commissar Zhang inspected the wounded and said to everyone: "Every one of us Red Army soldiers is a seed of revolution, and as long as we live, we must not leave a single person behind!" Then he felt a flower in front of his eyes, his body was crooked, he fell on the snow, and when everyone helped him up, he was no longer able to do it, but he smiled and said: "Comrades, I can't do it, you will leave us here... You must climb over the snowy mountains... The people of the whole country are looking forward to us Red Army..." Then he closed his eyes. Because of the encouragement of Political Commissar Zhang, everyone continued to march towards the snowy mountains with tears, and many people froze in the snow and became sculptures and monuments on the Long March Road.

At this time, the second character of the story appears.

Wu Xian'en, a famous "grain and grass officer" of the Red Army, was the director of a certain military station at the time, and in February 1936, he led a group of Red Army soldiers over the Dangling Mountain. Along the way, they saw the bodies of many frozen Red Army soldiers, covered in thick ice and snow. In a snow bag, they found an arm, covered with ice and snow, but the arm was exposed and held high, giving the impression of exalting a wish or a spirit. Minister Wu stepped forward, and when he saw that the hand was clasped tightly, he pulled his hand open and saw that there was a party card and a silver dollar inside. Minister Wu opened his party card, which read: Liu Zhihai, a full member of the Communist Party of China, joined the party in 1933.

The people present suddenly understood that this Red Army soldier named Liu Zhihai, who wanted to do something at the end of his life, silently shed tears. Minister Wu said movingly: "Comrade Zhihai, rest in peace, the last party fee you paid to the party organization, we will definitely hand it over to the party organization!" "In the snow of Dangling Mountain, which is more than 5,000 meters above sea level, the loyalty of a Red Army soldier to the Party is held high, higher than that of Dangling Mountain! What goes high is an enlightenment, a realm. Today, the story is written into the history of the Party and many biographical stories, and it is given a plain name without any embellishments- "The Last Party Fee".

I saw this story through an article on the National Defense Network, which was told by an old Red Army man named Huang Hongrui. I think that today, although people have not yet figured out where Liu Zhihai is and whether there are any relatives in the family, as long as the relay is carried out, the spirit of the Red Army can be endlessly lived, and it will be connected with our roots and leaves, and it will continue from generation to generation, which has the great practical significance and eternal historical significance of "not forgetting the original heart and keeping the mission in mind".

Huang Hongrui said to the old Red Army: "Whether it is a person, a team, or a nation, as long as the spirit does not fall, it can survive any difficulties!" "Dangling Mountain, because of the Long March, because of the Red Army soldiers, because of Commissar Zhang and Liu Zhihai, has become a kind of height, higher than people. We have completed a long journey at this height, and we have opened up the journey of the times in the present and moved towards a better future.
