Ambon Island, also known as Amberana Island, is located in the north of the Banda Sea, 11 kilometers southwest of Seran Island, because it is just located in the Banda Sea and the Pacific Sea to rush up, the geographical location is very good, and here has happened jaw-dropping things, here once established a small country, called the Republic of South Malugu, but this country was only established for about half a year before it was annihilated in the long river of history...

Because of its good location and rich in spices, Ambon Island became a target of Western colonists in the era of the New Shipping Route. Later, the actual ruler here, the Dutch, began to vigorously change the customs and habits of the island this time, so that the island was different from other parts of Indonesia, and it was this series of measures taken by the Netherlands that made the Ambon people on Ambon Island more inclined to the Netherlands, and the gap between The Indonesians with different beliefs deepened, which also laid hidden dangers for the later conflicts.
In World War II, the Netherlands, like several other colonial empires, suffered heavy losses, so that the Netherlands could only be forced to abandon overseas colonies, the Indonesian region including Ambon Island became a Japanese-occupied area, and during this period, Japan vigorously supported the Indonesian national movement leader Sukarno, and also promised to help him realize the dream of independence, but did not expect that later Japan surrendered, Indonesia really achieved independence in the hands of Sukarno, Indonesia also proposed to the colonies that originally belonged to the Netherlands have put forward their own sovereignty claims, but at this time, how can the Netherlands easily let go.
From September 1945 to December 1949, with the help of the British, the Dutch launched three consecutive wars against Indonesia in an attempt to strangle the new Indonesian regime in the cradle, but they still underestimated the courage of the Indonesians to share the same hatred and enemy, and finally completely ended the Dutch colonial rule in the local area, and the island of Ambon was also under the jurisdiction of the Indonesian government, although the post-war agreement was so stipulated, but the Ambon people did not want to be ruled by the pagan Indonesians, and they knew that they had joined the Dutch army against the Indonesians before. If it were to be brought under Indonesian rule, it would inevitably be liquidated, so on April 25, 1950, after the withdrawal of the Netherlands, the Ambons urgently declared the establishment of the Republic of South Maluku and recognized the Dutch rule over the area.
Although the Dutch were "touched" by the Ambons' approach, they could not provide them with anything. Indonesia soon regarded this act as a rebellion, and three months later the Indonesian army began to attack Ambon Island, and in November the main force of the South Maluku Republic was destroyed, and the Indonesian army occupied Ambon Island, and the state was destroyed after only half a year of existence. The remaining remnants of the army wandered into the dense forests of the mountains to continue to resist the Indonesian government forces, fighting guerrilla warfare, and the supply of personnel and materials all relied on the mountains to engage in plunder, and these guerrillas persisted for 12 years before they were completely eliminated. Officials of the Republic of South Maluku have gone to the Netherlands to re-form a government-in-exile and have called for years on the international community to sanction Indonesia's aggression, but little attention has been paid to it.
