The jade people were excavated from the neolithic settlement site of Lingjiatan Village, Tongzha Town, Hanshan County, Anhui Province, and the site area found artificial altars built in the late Neolithic period, large clan cemeteries, as well as important relics such as sacrifice pits, red-burnt earth and stone circles, and unearthed exquisite jade ceremonial vessels, stone tools, pottery and other precious cultural relics. The discovery of the site may advance the history of Chinese civilization to 5300 years ago.
