The German media outlet Bild reported that Stuttgart was considering activating the buyout clause of Mavropanos, which was leased from Arsenal, so that it could be sold for a profit.

The buyout clause in Stuttgart is £3 million, plus a prize fund of up to £1.5 million, while they reportedly want to sell players for 20 million.

If that becomes a reality, West Ham, Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund are all interested in bringing in the defender.

According to the terms of the loan contract, Stuttgart would have to pay £3 million if he was able to stay in the Bundesliga. If relegated, they can choose to refuse a buyout.

However, if they think they can make a "quick buck" from a player, then even eventual relegation may activate this option.

As things stand, Stuttgart faces a certain threat in its position in the Bundesliga. Despite two wins in their last three games, they are only one point ahead of their relegation play-off position.

Interestingly, Mavlopanos is Stuttgart's top scorer this season, scoring more goals than he did in all other senior teams combined.

Although missing two weeks of games in late October and early November, he largely avoided previous injury problems.

Given the progress of previous seasons, it's not surprising that he's getting more attention now.

Lille is reluctant to sell Jonathan Davey, who has been in trouble with Arsenal in January, and they hope to sell for a big price in next summer window.

French media "Jeunes Footeux" reported that Lille wanted to use David to put a long line to catch big fish. They don't want to sell it in January and will only consider negotiations when the offer next summer is not less than 55 million euros.

The news corresponds to previous reports in the Evening Standard, which said Arsenal were scouting several strikers, with David on the list.

The Goal Net reported that Arsenal are a long-time "admirer" of David, who is expected to make a transfer in the summer window.

The Goal Net also mentioned that Arsenal have developed a good relationship with Lille after completing the deal between Gabriel and Pepe.

The Gunners do have other options, such as Lewin, who has been mentioned so often in recent months. Obviously they're going to bring in a shooter in the summer window, but we don't know the final candidate yet.

The 21-year-old David has made a strong start in France, scoring 14 goals so far this season, including 11 in Ligue 1, topped the top scorers list.

Three of those goals came from penalties, but 11 goals from sporting battles remained an excellent result this season.

The Canada international is also very prolific in the national team, recording 18 goals and 10 assists in 24 appearances.
