According to The Sun, F1 Mercedes driver Hamilton lost £4m to missing out on the F1 title. In the 2021 F1 finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton lost to Red Bull Racing's Verstappen.

Hamilton is F1's highest-paid driver of the year, earning around £40 million a year. His contract stipulates that if he wins the annual championship, he will receive a prize of £4 million.

Although Hamilton missed his eighth title, he will still receive the highest prestige from England. Buckingham Palace announced that Mercedes Racing British driver Sir Lewis Hamilton will be awarded the knighthood on December 15.
