China's real "two-gun old woman": anonymity as a nanny, 34 years later her identity was discovered
The "Old Lady with Two Guns" is a legendary figure in the history of China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Although she was a woman, in the torrent of the War of Resistance Against Japan, she resolutely stepped forward, faced difficulties, and fought the enemy with her own blood. There are many folk versions of the story of the "Old Lady with Two Guns". In the novel "Red Rock", there is this legend and the life of this legendary character. However, the real "two-gun old lady" in history does not only represent this one person, but more importantly represents the vast number of silent fighters but are not willing to be high-profile.
Jiao Ziying, born in Hubei in 1905, was raised by his parents due to poverty and handed over to her aunt to raise. When she was 10 years old, her uncle died of illness, and she could only take care of the family at a young age. She found a job at the landlord's house when she was young. With a meager income, she and her aunt struggled to make ends meet. A few years later, in order to hug her grandson as soon as possible, her aunt asked Jiao Ziying to marry a man in a neighboring village.
When Jiao Ziying was 21 years old, Marxism was spreading widely in China, a land that was already in ruins. Therefore, in 1927, Jiao Ziying became the director of the village committee. She called on local women to continue their courageous struggle against the old feudal society. Jiao Ziying joined the Party in 1930 because of her outstanding achievements in mobilizing the masses and expanding the Red Army.
Using effective personnel, Jiao Ziying and others joined the guerrillas, training guns and tactics, and striving to be useful on future battlefields. Jiao Ziying was also the leader of the guerrillas, and she also set an example in the face of difficulties. Even if he had to eat bark and chew grass roots, he should resolutely refuse to accept the people's stitching. In addition, she also distributed the grain and clothes of the local tycoons and inferior gentry to the poor, so all in southeastErn Hubei had heard of Jiao Ziying.
Later, Jiao Ziying was with the guerrilla leader Jiang Youshu because her first husband died. Later, Jiao Ziying lost contact with the previous guerrillas. In order to avoid the pursuit of the enemy, Jiao Ziying and her husband had a hard time avoiding the enemy's sight. However, this husband hated that she could not have children, so he abandoned Jiao Ziying. Jiao Ziying, alone, would go to the circus to watch the performance. From time to time, the leader of the regiment, Yue Banglin, took Jiao Ziying as an actor and married her.
In 1955, the circus was disbanded, and Yue Banglin and his wife settled in Suichuan County, Jiangxi Province. Under the organizational arrangement, Jiao Ziying started the job of nanny. The "two-gun old woman" who once had heroic deeds has also returned to ordinary life. It was not until 1975 that Comrade Jiang Weiqing, then secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, recognized her.
