Zhang Xiaolei| Zhang Xiaolei, born in 1982, graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts with a ph.D. under Mr. Tang Yongli. He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Military Fine Arts, Military Culture College, National Defense University. In 2008, "Clear Sky" won the first prize of the Central Academy of Fine Arts Graduate Graduation Works. In 2009, "Treading Snow" was selected for the 11th National Art Exhibition. In 2014, "Military Band on the Gobi Desert" won the Excellence Award of the 12th National Art Exhibition and the Excellence Award of the All-Army Art Exhibition. In 2019, "Medical Team Aid to Africa" (196×196) was nominated for the 13th National Art Exhibition. In 2019, "Medical Team Aiding Africa" (200×300) was selected as a national theme art creation project of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and participated in the "Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China Fine Arts Exhibition" at the National Art Museum of China.

Gongbi painting has a certain degree of production, and can learn from some methods other than traditional techniques for creation, which is also influenced by my mentor Teacher Tang. During the school period, Mr. Tang did not teach specific techniques, but more of an inspiration for sketching and creative ideas. I think this will avoid the quagmire of naturalism and benefit a lot. After that, I made some attempts in the graduation work "Clear Sky". At that time, there was a feeling that the picture was very inclusive, and it was actually possible to move the idea of not being practical and bottomless in the objective to the painting, and it did not feel uncomfortable.

The "Military Band on the Gobi Desert", which was completed during the training period of the Ningxia camp, tried methods such as the shedding method, and felt that the use of the technique should be bold, and later found that the shedding method was still beautiful with a warm foundation. I prefer Dürer's work, his depiction of details is very meticulous. I wonder if this kind of meticulousness can be used on the pen, of course, the line of the pen can be generalized, but my grasp of the generalization has not been too good, many times just obey the technique of the belt, and limited by the shackles of the pen programming language, I always want to break through. I tried it on "Young Dancer", and I didn't paint the traditional way of dealing with clothes, I used some methods of painting still life, at least in appearance, there were some breakthroughs. Then there was the material, trying to use cloth and some color powder, which also influenced my later creation of "Aid to Africa Medical Team".

It is necessary to draw a small draft carefully, and many ideas are implemented on the small draft, which is not only much more convenient, but also bursts out some ideas and accidents in the process, which can be summarized and used in the big draft.
For gongbi painting, I always feel that there are some obstacles in the borrowing power of sketching, and freehand painting is much easier to borrow, such as "Displaced People's Map", "Historical Freeze Frame" and so on. What kind of sketch, rough, delicate, as long as it is linear freehand, it is better to borrow power, and it is not too much to add some light and shade appropriately. The lines of the brush are thin lines, and it is not just as simple as drawing an outline. It has higher requirements for line generalization and refinement, which is more difficult. But there are also some techniques in the sketch that are not too difficult to master, and they are very practical, I wonder if I can use them, that is, I am stupid and more expressive, and the drum method is used in the creation of this "Aid to Africa Medical Team". I always want to find a way to have a strong sense of stereotyping, because dyeing over and over again is easy to not feel, and wet and dry is not a color, but also some discomfort. This creation has many places to be done over and over again, and some other tools such as color powder are used, but there are some unexpected effects.

I think that if you want to draw a good figure, you must first pay attention to the modeling problem, draw more sketches and sketches. At the same time, traditional Chinese culture has a profound foundation, not only to learn but also to learn from the tradition in depth; but also to learn from excellent realist works at home and abroad, more research and accumulation.
