Many places in the central and eastern regions are sunny and cloudless

Pay attention to cold protection in the northeast and northwest

The Gemini meteor shower ushered in the great viewing map today

The Gemini meteor shower is one of the three major meteor showers in the northern hemisphere, and astronomical forecasts show that this year's Gemini meteor shower will be extremely large around 15 o'clock today, and the maximum ZHR (under ideal observation conditions, the number of meteors that can be seen per hour when the radiation point is directly above the head) is 150. After the moon sets tonight, the radiation point of the Gemini meteor shower will also rise higher, which is suitable for viewing.

According to Wang Weiyue, a meteorological analyst at the China Weather Network, this evening, many places in central and eastern China, including Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and other places, are sunny and cloudless, which is suitable for watching meteor showers; some areas in Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Qinghai, and other places are dominated by cloudy weather, and it is more necessary to see meteors; while some areas such as northern Xinjiang and the Sichuan Basin have more clouds or are disturbed by rain and snow, and it is difficult to find stars.

It should be noted that the minimum temperature in most of Xinjiang, the western part of the northwest region, the western part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and most of the northeast region, the central and eastern parts of Inner Mongolia will be lower than minus 10 °C, and the minimum temperature in most of north China, the central and eastern parts of the northwest region, and the western Sichuan Plateau will also be below the freezing point.

The Gemini meteor shower can be enjoyed with the naked eye

There may be an unexpected harvest before the moon sets

The Gemini Meteor Shower meteoroid body is slower, brighter, and often has fire meteors. You only need to look up at the starry sky, you can use the naked eye to enjoy the beautiful scenery of shooting stars across the night sky, and it is also suitable for astrophotography enthusiasts to shoot.

In order to experience the best viewing effect, friends with conditions can go to the suburbs with less light pollution and choose a wide field of view for viewing. In addition, although it is a good time to watch meteor showers after the moonrise, some relatively brighter meteors can also be seen before the moonrise. Therefore, looking away from the moon before the moon sets, there may be a windfall. This year's Starry Sky Grand Finale Awards are here, so let's take a look!
