This morning (December 13), some media released a video of an undercover interview, pointing out that Starbucks Wuxi Changxing Building Store and Wuxi Zhenze Road Store have problems with the use of expired ingredients, including chocolate liquor, matcha liquid, black tea liquid, cream, peach pulp and cocoa chips. For expired ingredients, the store clerk will tear up the expired raw material label or change the shelf life of the raw material.
For example, a clerk changed the shelf life label ten minutes before a bottle of matcha expired, so the matcha liquid, which originally had a shelf life of only one day, extended the shelf life by one day; similarly, the supervisor on duty found that the cocoa fragments expired, did not scrap them, but tore off the shelf life label, directly replaced by a new label, and its expiration time was postponed for a full week.

In the secret interview video, there are store clerks who say that if they do not continue to use expired ingredients, they will be wasted, "if they can't be used, even if they are scrapped, even if the money in the store is wasted, these things are spent in the store"; and the clerk revealed that if there are too many leftover raw materials, they will directly change the shelf life. The video also shows that the store's duty supervisor was also aware of this practice and acquiesced.
The video of the secret visit also shows that many Starbucks stores in Wuxi promise that if the opened pastries cannot be sold, they will be scrapped on the same day, but in fact, some overnight pastries are sold on the shelves the next day; in addition, Starbucks clerks will continue to wipe the bar and coffee machine after a simple cleaning with towels that have been wiped through the garbage can.
