Some motor vehicles do not give way to pedestrians when passing through crosswalks

Recently, the reporter came to several traffic arteries in the city and found that many motor vehicles do not slow down when passing through the crosswalk, and do not stop to give way to pedestrians when they encounter pedestrians passing through the crosswalk.

At about 6 p.m. on December 10, the reporter came to the pedestrian crossing near the intersection of Jiefang West Road and Yamatozhuang Street in the city, and within about 5 minutes, there were dozens of vehicles coming and going, but the reporter observed that only three or four cars slowed down when passing through the crosswalk. Most of the time, multiple cars are speeding past, while pedestrians are still waiting on both sides of the crosswalk.

Some citizens riding electric bicycles were "stuck" in the middle of the crosswalk, only half of the road, and had to wait for the passing cars to stop and give way.

The reporter tried to cross the road on a pedestrian crossing on Qingchi South Avenue in the city. After passing two or three cars, a white car stopped and gave way. The reporter observed that there was a lady riding an electric bicycle across the road, waiting at the side of the road for about a minute before carefully moving to the middle of the road.

It wasn't until seven or eight cars passed and there were no vehicles not far away that the woman finally reached the other side of the road.

The reporter continued to observe here for 5 minutes and found that only a very small number of vehicles drove to the crosswalk to slow down and stop to give way to pedestrians.

The same situation exists on a pedestrian crossing near the sunshine international community in the city.
