The first lady of South Vietnam, Chen Lichun, has a strong personality, full of energy, eloquence, never shows weakness to men, although thin, but holds great power, and all this is not due to her talent, but because of her pungent personality, and even some people think that she belongs to narcissism. It was precisely because of her cold stubbornness and self-sufficiency that she influenced the policies pursued by the South Vietnamese authorities and laid the groundwork for the subsequent coup d'état in South Vietnam and the tragic death of the president.

In October 1955, Ngo Dinh, with the support of the United States, passed a coup d'état and became president of the "Republic of Vietnam" (South Vietnam) and became the leader of the anti-communist bloc in South Vietnam. Diệm is a true dictator. The Ang clique's heinous and brutal rule of South Vietnam provoked strong indignation among the local population.

In May 1963, on the 2587th anniversary of the birth of Buddha Shakyamuni, Wu Dinh Yan sent troops to interfere in the Buddhist activities of the Buddhists in the ancient capital of Hue. Oh's soldiers shot and killed nine devout Buddhists in The city of Hue. In protest against the brutality of the Diệm government, on June 11, a respected Buddhist monk poured gasoline on his own body in the bustling streets of Saigon, sat cross-legged, and set himself on fire. Some monks surrounded him and protested against Ng's persecution of Buddhists by self-immolation. As a result of the Buddhist Association's advance notice to reporters, the incident caused a huge shock around the world, including in the United States. Later, some monks followed suit, and seven cases of monks and nuns committing suicides were committed.

At that time, South Vietnamese was responsible for external propaganda by Ngo Dinh Yan's sister-in-law Chen Lichun. Since Diệm was never married in her lifetime, Chen Lichun became the "First Lady" of South Vietnam, nicknamed "Lady Dragon". Although Chen Lichun was young and beautiful, she was known for her vicious cruelty. When Western reporters asked about the self-immolation of monks and nuns, the "Dragon Lady" unabashedly said that this was "monk roast meat" and a "barbecue performance". "Let them burn to death, I applauded with joy".

As soon as the phrase "Lady Dragon" came out, it greatly shocked the US government. Kennedy personally wrote a letter reprimanding Diệm and warning him not to mess around. The overwhelmed Wu Tingyan not only did not listen, but also sent the "Dragon Lady" to the United States to lecture, scolding Kennedy for not being interesting enough. Kennedy suddenly woke up to the fact that he must "change horses" in South Vietnam, otherwise there will be endless troubles. So he ordered the CIA to start "solving" Wu Tingyan.

At noon on November 1, 1963, civil unrest broke out in Saigon and a coup d'état began in South Vietnam. In the early hours of the next day, 18 tanks stormed the presidential palace. The Two Brothers Diệm and their few guards remained at the Presidential Palace until dawn. When Wu Tingyan saw that the general situation was gone, he personally called the generals of the coup and agreed to surrender.

After Wu Tingyan escaped, he immediately sent secret envoys to negotiate with the coup leader. The coup d'état army said that as long as Diệm handed over power, he could go to the United States to retire. Believing this, the Wu brothers emerged from the Catholic Church where they were hiding, were captured by the coup soldiers, and were shot and killed in an armored vehicle. The two corpses were covered in bullet marks and knife wounds, and there were too many people who hated them.

At that time, the "Dragon Lady" and her eldest daughter escaped in California, USA, and when she tried to return to Vietnam the following year, she was rejected, and she later went to Rome to Paris. Soon after, her daughter died in a car accident. In 1981, the "Dragon Lady" lived in Washington, D.C., where her parents were strangled alive. Since then, the "Dragon Lady" has become more isolated from the world, staying at home on weekdays, and died in Rome, Italy, due to a long-term illness in 2011.
