The self-cycle of poverty

If you're poor, if you don't succeed, people think you're lazy and stupid. But in fact?

01

Once, Barbara Ehrenreich, a well-known columnist in the United States, went deep into the bottom of the United States and made her role a poor person, and she wanted to see if she could get out of poverty.

To this end, she hid her name and went to several states, working in restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets as a waitress, cleaner, cashier, etc.

Later, she wrote a book called "My Life at the Bottom", which was very popular, and the original title was actually "Difficult to Get By", and she found that in that world, people lived a poor life that could not be relieved and could not be stopped no matter how hard they tried.

1. The self-cycle of poverty.

2. Rushing to survive and make ends meet, falling into the trap of busyness and poverty.

Poverty is not just a lack of money, security, education, health care... These circumstances and factors make poverty an inextricable norm and trap itself in a terrible cycle.

In The Nature of Poverty, the author traveled to 18 countries on five continents and found that many times poverty cannot be solved with money alone.

Mr. Zhou Baosong once said in "The Suffering of Poverty": "Poverty, in addition to the lack of basic material needs, includes a person's education, opportunities, freedom, self-esteem, life planning, family life, social networks and public participation. When a person lacks these conditions to a certain extent, he is confronted not only with poverty, but with oppression and even slavery. ”

How hard is it to get out of the circle of poverty?

Through learning and hard work? Yes, through learning and hard work, you can surpass yourself, but you can't surpass others.

Everyone's starting point is different, you have to work hard and surpass from a very low starting point, and then get rewards, it is very difficult, some people say that the self-made entrepreneurial elite? There are no absolutes in anything, we will only discuss broad manifestations. Moreover, the first pot of gold for entrepreneurial elites is already unattainable for many people.

In the first half of their lives, many poor people try their best just to be able to stand at the starting point of others.

So the poor and the rich are increasingly moving to two extremes. The wealth of the rich continues to grow like a rocket, and ordinary people, even if they work 24 hours a day, cannot keep up with the growth of their wealth.

It is not easy for the poor to live, and they have to make more efforts every time they cross a step. The successive difficulties in life make them overwhelmed, 80% of the things they think about every day are next month's rent, mortgage, car loan, and their bodies and minds are hollowed out by the needs of making a living in front of them.

For example, a young man who works in a big city, he thinks about how to work stably, save money to buy a house, fall in love and get married, subsidize his elderly parents who are far away in the countryside, and he has no more time to upgrade and increase his wealth.

Ordinary people are caught up in basic living expenses such as living costs, housing loans, car loans, raising children, and supporting the elderly, and their wealth is continuously consumed before they have time to accumulate. The rich, on the other hand, have long since escaped these constraints, and they have the resources, time, chips and qualifications to acquire more wealth and open up new paths to create wealth faster. As a result, the gap between the poor and the rich is widening.

Bees and worker ants may be used to describe the living conditions of ordinary poor people very aptly.

Other studies have shown that being poor has negative effects.

Poverty reduces a person's decision-making capacity.

In 2015, Science published a landmark study that found that poverty impairs our ability to make decisions about school, financial management, and life, and that the mental burden of poverty can reduce IQ by 13 points.

Poverty leads to a drop in IQ.

Psychologists have conducted IQ tests on Indian farmers before and after harvest, and the IQ difference between before and after is 10 points. Psychologists have found that the IQ caused by poverty due to poverty has dropped by an average of 13 points due to poverty by stimulating the feelings of poverty of the experimentees through economic problems such as mortgages and car loans in the mall.

There is no ability to choose, no confidence to invest.

You can't focus on a high-time cost, even if the future is bright, it is prohibitive.

There are too many ties and the will cannot be stretched.

The present and the future, the choice of helplessness.

This is probably the embarrassment of many people. Poverty not only limits imagination, but also restricts action, stagnation, inability to get rid of, and the cycle repeats. (Reprinted)
