The Queen of Belgium, Paola Ruffo di Calabria, a beautiful woman from the Italian nobility, is over 84 years old. Here, we review how she became a #fashion icon in the 1960s.
Like her contemporary, Princess Grace of Monaco, Queen Paola Ruffo di Calabria of Belgium was hailed as one of the most beautiful women in Europe in the 1950s and 1960s, with eyes, blond hair and impeccable style.
Paola Ruffo di Calabria was born into the oldest Calabrian family on the Apennine Peninsula in Italy, the father of a hereditary sixth-generation duke who also distinguished himself in world war I; her mother was a French nobleman who bore seven children, and Paula was the most favored young daughter.
Paola studied literature, art, science, history, and was fluent in six languages (Italian, French, English, German, Greek, Latin), combined with her dazzling beauty, known as the "Apennines Swan", and later met her future prince at the Vatican, where they all witnessed the coronation of Pope John XXIII. He was the younger brother and heir of King Baudouin (the king had no sons) – Albert.
The couple married on July 2, 1959, at St. Gödler's Cathedral in Brussels, and there was always some unknown heartache behind the happiness and beauty of others.
The two were both arrogant babies from childhood, far less mature than their brothers and sisters-in-law, and as soon as the freshness passed, they began to quarrel and separate. Albert had fun and indulged, hooked up with his wife, and gave birth to an illegitimate daughter, Delfina.
When they were old, they tossed and turned, and the relationship between the two was magically repaired. When delphina, the illegitimate daughter, grew up, she learned that her biological father was a king, and in order to win back her breath for her mother and herself, she fought a "recognizing father" lawsuit for seven years, and it was not settled until this year.
In 2013, the 79-year-old Albert II continued to mix on the throne because of this matter, announcing his abdication. The eldest son, Philip, finally ascended the throne, which was twenty years late.
