Lithuania has not yet understood that Chinese mainland punishment, the EU cannot save itself, and Taiwan cannot save itself

author:A knight of national relations

According to the Observer Network reported on December 7, after being "punished" by China, Lithuania recently submitted a letter to the European Union, seeking the EU to intervene. A few days ago, the EU announced that it would publish an "anti-coercion" draft on the 8th of this month in an attempt to counter those countries that "interfered in the legitimate sovereignty of EU member states". A source revealed in advance that the draft lists a series of countermeasures, including tariffs, suspension of market access, and restrictions on procurement projects. Some media believe that the main target of the draft is China, which is also a response of the EU to Lithuania.

Judging from the timing of a series of recent events, although the draft to be released by the EU does not "name" China, it does seem to be a posture to help Lithuania emerge strongly and get "justice" from China. The European Union is a political and economic community in Europe, although Lithuania behaves in the same bed and dreams, from time to time with the United States, and even in recent years, only Washington is the leader, but after all, it is still a member of the European Union, "bullied" outside, the European Union for the sake of the overall situation, at least on the surface of the "unity", so it has to stand up to protect the calves, even if it is pretending to be good.

Just a few days ago, a shipment of Lithuanian timber was loaded into containers and transported from the Baltic port to the Port of Shanghai, China. When the customs clearance procedures were completed, it was found that no information about the containers could be found. It turned out that there was no "Lithuanian" information in the port customs computer system, and it was suspected that it had been removed. Other Lithuanian exporters reported that the same was true of other ports in China. Based on this analysis, the Lithuanian government believes that its export trade with China has been blocked by Chinese customs.

The occurrence of such a problem will undoubtedly cause great losses to Lithuanian exporters, not only can not handle the goods that have arrived at Chinese ports, but also more likely to make Lithuanian products completely withdraw from the Chinese market in the future. It seems that China has become angry, and the consequences are very serious. In desperation, Lithuania had to "ask for help" like the EU, trying to get the EU to pressure China to lift this blockade. Sure enough, on the 3rd of this month, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Landsbergis sent a letter to borelli, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, asking the EU to "unite and respond strongly."

The EU's "response" is indeed coming, but it is difficult to call it "strong", which is related to the current major crisis facing the EU itself.

In recent months, the supply chain crisis in EU countries has broken out, including daily necessities, all kinds of goods are extremely scarce, and the rush to buy has occurred one after another, frequently, and has not been effectively alleviated so far. The crisis in the supply chain has become an important driver of inflation caused by the over-issuance of the US dollar, and has once again hit the economies of EU countries. What's more, at present, there is a "drug king" Omi kerong attacking in a big way, which further aggravates the panic of EU countries, resulting in the plan of the United States and European countries to strive for an early resumption of work and production can only end in bankruptcy, which just makes the various crises of the EU worse.

To eradicate these crises in the EU is undoubtedly a pipe dream, but if it is to be partially alleviated, it is still possible. Looking at the world, only China can help the EU slowly emerge from the crisis. However, there is only one way, that is, to strengthen economic and trade exchanges with China and let Chinese products be exported to alleviate the shortage of supply chains. However, if we want to do the opposite, introduce any economic and trade drafts, bills and the like, and try to suppress China's exports by imposing tariffs and restricting market access, the CRISIS in the EU will really be cured. This is also the reason why the EU draft does not dare to mention China in any word.

It has to be said that Lithuania's hope that the EU will pressure China is a rather brainless idea. Ironically, however, this is not the only bad idea that the Lithuanian side has come up with.

Lithuania has not yet understood that Chinese mainland punishment, the EU cannot save itself, and Taiwan cannot save itself

As for this new bad idea, it is very simple, to put it bluntly, it is self-deception. A Russian media "Opinion Newspaper" recently disclosed that the Lithuanian government is facing China's punishment, while seeking EU mediation, it also threatened that China's retaliation will not lead to a bad situation, saying that Lithuania's exports to China account for only about 1% of the country's total exports. And Lithuania is fully capable of "making up" for the losses caused by Chinese mainland retaliation from Taiwan, saying that Taiwan has promised to help Lithuania build a semiconductor production plant. These arguments show that although China has struck, it is still very insufficient, and only if the means are fierce enough can the Lithuanian government drill its head out of the sand.

Lithuania is now punished by China, the Eu cannot save it, and Taiwan cannot. If Lithuania really wants to lift China's punishment, there is only one correct way, that is, to immediately abandon its provocations against China and sever all so-called "political relations" with the Taiwan authorities. However, this is also very unrealistic, Lithuania clings to the thighs of the United States, and it is almost impossible to turn back on the anti-China road. It seems that the hard days in Lithuania are still ahead.
