Flowers in May
After learning the truth of Zhang Luping's sacrifice, Shen Baoqi (later renamed Li Qing), who had entered his old age, was blinded by tears... In the midst of great grief, he was relieved and proud of his beloved wife! On the 40th anniversary of Zhang Luping's sacrifice on the 1985 Tomb Sweeping Day, Li Qing, who had just retired from his post, made a special trip from Beijing to Guizhou to visit the graves of his loved ones. A bouquet of fragrant and beautiful flowers was placed in front of the tomb of the martyr Zhang Luping. The drizzle is endless, and the sky and Li Qing are sad... Despite the thick layer of yellow soil, the voice and smile of loved ones still appear so clearly in front of the eyes: bright smiles, red sweaters, sweet songs... Li Qing leaned down and pulled out the messy grass on the grave one by one; gently caressed the fine loess on the grave... This is the first time that Li Qing and Zhang Luping have met since the new marriage and separation in Yan'an for 45 years! Li Qing was finally able to confide in her loved ones the confidants she had accumulated for 45 years, and her sweet singing voice seemed to echo in her ears again:
The flowers of May bloomed all over the wilderness, and the flowers stained the blood of the heroes. . . . . .
In July 2005, on the 60th anniversary of the heroic inauguration of martyr Zhang Luping, Li Qing, at the age of 85, once again climbed the Happy Ridge to remember his loved ones and give poems to commemorate:
Cangshan buried loyal bones, and the mighty river was full of great energy. Dreams surround the lonely soul, how not to remember Yan'an!
