Ming and Qing Dynasty porcelain annual series -- Jiajing

author:Poly sent to the auction collection department

The Jiajing Emperor reigned for a long time, up to 45 years, and could be ranked among the top few in history. Of course, this is due to the fact that the previous Zhengde Emperor died at a young age, on the other hand, it is also because Jiajing's health is not very good, so he pays special attention to maintenance, and even a little superstitious immortality. He believed in Taoism and was another "Daojun Emperor" after Emperor Huizong of Song. However, it is said that in his later years, he was addicted to "Xiu Xian" excessively, and he was chronically poisoned by taking strange Dan medicine for a long time.

From the macroscopic perspective of ceramic history, the Jiajing Dynasty opened the style of the late Ming Dynasty, and the utensils gradually changed from the light and cold in the middle of the Ming Dynasty to the thick and heavy. However, in long dynasties, the varieties, outputs and extperients of porcelain will generally be larger. Therefore, there are many Jiajing Dynasty artifacts that can be seen now, some fine and some coarse, and the varieties are extremely diverse, and sometimes it is difficult to summarize them in a unified style.

The same goes for the yearbook.

There are many types of Jiajing New Year models, and the fonts are different. Some of the official kilns are meticulously written, and some are written casually. Before, we can all discuss each word one by one, and here in Jiajing I decided to give up. Because each word is generally similar in style, but not the same. To put the same words together, I can't do this water mill work.

The Jiajing annual period is all in letters. The most common is the "Daming Jiajing Year System" double-line six-character model, followed by the horizontal writing written on the edge of the mouth of the utensil, as well as the six-character model written on the shoulder or bottom of the utensils arranged in a circle, and some dry payments. Four-character models are rare.

The common double-line six-character model can be divided into double circles, two-sided frames, borderless, dark engraved, alum red and so on.

The double-line six-character model with double circles has a category that is extremely regularly written, and it is likely to imitate the pre-dynasty Hongzhi and Zhengde fonts. It also often appeared on the famous porcelain varieties of the former dynasty. For example, the picture below is two yellow ground blue flower gardenia pattern fragments that were auctioned together, one Hongzhi and one Jiajing. How similar the fonts are at a glance.

In addition to such a small number of relatively regularly written models, other Jiajing models are basically self-indulgent. Among them, the double-line six-character model with double circles has the largest number.

The last few in the above figure are written more casually than the official kiln models.

In addition to the double-circle model, there are also many double-line six-character models without borders.

Another two-line, six-figure model with two frames is found on square utensils and a few cups and saucers.

At the bottom of monochrome glazed utensils, it is also common to have a dark engraving of two lines of six characters. Some also paint glazes of different colors in order to highlight the style.

It is worth noting that in addition to the normal writing methods above, the word "year" is also written in four horizontal ways. Not many.

Relatively large utensils, such as large cylinders, large tanks, etc., often write the model at the edge of the mouth to make a horizontal line.

Other models are relatively niche and difficult to enumerate. These include the alum red model, the four-character model, the "Daming Jiajing Nianzao" six-character model, various dry branch chronicle models, the six-character model written in a circle clockwise, and so on.

The imitation level of Jiajing porcelain is very high, and the style is almost chaotic. These figures of vomiting blood can only be used as a reference, and should not be used as the only basis for judging authenticity. Identification should be considered from multiple perspectives, and it is sometimes not enough to look at the bottom model. At the end of the day, continue to make a voting game, welcome everyone to express their views.
