Russian writer Manktowski: I have traveled all over Asia, but I have been moved by China

In the world of literature, you can't imagine a tall building that will remain in your mind in a single thought, there is a colorful world, and there is also a purgatory of grief, but in Manktowski's heart, the greatness of this world is not how many people, but some people, are doing the cause of fighting for all mankind.

In 2014, Manktowski took a simple package from Singapore's Changi Airport to Beijing, China.

At the age of 49, he has traveled to more than twenty countries in Asia, and China, the closest to his hometown, is the last stop.

Manktowski said: If I start my journey again, China is still the last, because China is rich in land and rich in culture, and if I go to China in a sloppy way, I will definitely regret my life.

Perhaps it is with this kind of thinking that in his eyes, Asian countries other than China are at best visiting the scenery, and China is willing to spend more time to experience and enjoy.

When he came to China, it was already seven o'clock in the afternoon, he walked out of the airport alone, did not greet his Chinese friends, he used a lame Chinese to ask how to walk the Forbidden City in Beijing, which is 38 kilometers away from the capital airport, he put down the package, took out a pair of worn-out shoes, put them on without hurrying, and then, in the direction of passers-by, step by step.

At 11 o'clock the next morning, Manktowski came to the wall of the Forbidden City, he sat at the base of the wall basking in the sun, and from time to time there were passers-by who left him some money, he ignored it, because he had seen such a scene a lot, in many countries, they thought he was a beggar, so why not be a beggar?

In fact, Manktowski's family was wealthy, and during this trip of more than three years, he also prepared enough funds to walk more places.

While in Iran, he saw people dancing Persian folk dances on handmade carpets, and the scruffy Mankotowski was fortunate enough to be invited to dance with everyone, and when he revealed his identity, many people began to admire his courage.

When he came to Singapore, the security guard thought he was a beggar and was pushed out of the shopping mall by several people, but in Beijing, people did not do anything to him, on the contrary, more people looked at him with puzzled eyes, and some people brought bread and milk, which made Manketovsky moved.

In his diary, he wrote: "It was a bright day, I was resting at the root of the Forbidden City with my tired body, no one thought I was a beggar, there were well-meaning people who brought me bread, some people brought milk, there were even people who sent money, and of course, a young man in a suit booked a hotel for me to rest."

On the second day's diary, it was written: On the third day of my arrival in China, someone was willing to be friends with me and pay tribute to me in English, and instead of asking me if I needed help, he took him to his room and prepared me lunch, a piece of bread, and some vegetables.

Beijing is not the end of Manktowski, he wants to go to more places, but only two months, in a month in Beijing, dozens of Chinese become his friends.

Later, when I came to Xi'an and visited the Terracotta Warriors, I was shocked by the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, and said bluntly: If I go back to two thousand years ago, I will certainly be able to see with my own eyes the majesty of the ten thousand horses galloping, and see His Majesty China pointing out the country.

But he couldn't understand how thousands of years ago, people could make buildings of such a large scale with advanced tools.

In Manktowski's mind, the food of all the peoples of this world is wonderful, even if it is difficult to swallow, but it is a thing that can make people feel happy in their hearts.

Yes, in Xi'an, he ate cold-skinned meat sandwich steamed buns and even ate hairy eggs.

But in Manktowski's mind, the hairy egg is disrespectful to life, and it is impossible to imagine what a cruel act it is.

Later, he went to Chengdu, Yibin, Changsha and other places.

At the end of his journey, he wrote a sentence in his diary: I, who have traveled all over Asia, but have been touched by China, is a great country with a great people.
