Located in the southern hemisphere of present-day Palembang, Sumatra, Indonesia, the Old Port Washikville was an administrative establishment of the Ming Dynasty. It was founded by Emperor Ming Chengzu Zhu Di.
Zhu Di took the throne after the Battle of Jingnan, and his ambitions were ambitious, hoping that all the nations would come to the dynasty. At the same time, during the Battle of Jingnan, Emperor Jianwen disappeared, and it is said that he ran to Nanyang and other places, which made Zhu Diyin a little worried, afraid that Emperor Jianwen would suddenly appear at that time, which would cause trouble.
Therefore, not long after he ascended the throne, Zhu Di sent his confidant eunuch Zheng He to start going to the West, which was also the two very critical reasons for Zheng He to go to the West.
In the early years of the Ming Dynasty, there was a kingdom called Srivijaya in this part of Sumatra, which itself originated in Palembang in the southeast of Sumatra Island, and was also very powerful at its peak, once a maritime power at that time, and the Tang and Song dynasties were also very closely linked to Srivijaya.
By the time of Zhu Yuanzhang in the early Ming Dynasty, the Majapahit state of East Java had destroyed the Srivijaya Dynasty and established contact with Yongle. However, the place of Sumatra, which was occupied by Majapahit, because of its fertile land, there were many Chinese from Nanyang who settled here, and more than a thousand Chinese living in Srivijaya at that time supported Liang Daoming, a Guangdong Nanhai man with high prestige, as the king of Srivijaya and rebelled against the rule of Majapahit.
In the past ten years, tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians have crossed the sea from Guangdong to defect to King Daoming of Liang. After Zhu Di ascended the throne, King Liang Daoming's fellow overseers, Yushi Tan Shengshou and Qianhu YangXin, went to Zhao'an with an edict. Liang Daoming returned to Daming, leaving his deputy Shi Jinqing to lead the soldiers and civilians. In this way, Shi Jinqing became the leader of the Chinese.
This brings us to Zheng He's voyage to the West, which is a fleet full of combat effectiveness, five years after Yongle, Zheng He's fleet returned from the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, passed through the old port, and happened to be attacked by the pirate Chen Zuyi at that time, Shi Jinqing asked Zheng He for assistance, Zheng He Chen Bing broke Chen Zuyi, and was escorted back to the Ming Dynasty capital Nanjing to be killed.
Shi Jinqing felt this, and in the same year sent his son-in-law to pay tribute to the Beijing Dynasty, and Ming Chengzu Zhao ordered Shi Jinqing to be a consolation envoy for the old port.
However, objectively speaking, the Ming Dynasty's control over the Old Port Xuanwei envoys was limited, not to mention that Zheng He's subsequent voyage to the West was terminated, which made it more difficult for Daming to control distant overseas enclaves.
