Martyr Hao Mengling

General Hao Mengling was born in 1898 in Gaocheng, Hebei Province. Hao Mengling's family was generally well-off, because his family was related to Wei Yisan, so he entered the army under his command. After decades of military career, Hao Mengling grew from a grassroots soldier to the commander of the Ninth Army of the National Revolutionary Army. Hao Mengling spent his early military career in warlord melee and civil war. Tired of the civil war and unwilling to participate in the encirclement and suppression of the Red Army, he once asked for retreat but was refused.

In 1937, the Lugou Bridge Incident broke out, and in the case of the peril of the anti-japanese army and the nation, Hao Mengling, who was eager to kill the enemy, asked Miao to go to Shanxi to fight.

In October 1937, the Battle of Xinkou began, and the Japanese general Itagaki Seishiro gathered elite troops to attack Shanxi. Because the Chinese army was backward in weapons and keen on position warfare, it suffered heavy casualties in the battle, but it was unable to resist the enemy's attack. In the early morning of the 16th of that month, Commander Hao Mengling, who was supervising the battle on the front line in Southern Huaihua, was unfortunately shot and killed at the age of 39.
