On December 1st, the public welfare exhibition of "Xishan Hanji, Deformed Qingteng - The Story of Xu Wei" was launched in guiyang Confucius Xuetang Art and Literature Museum.

In this exhibition, the Shaoxing Museum, together with the Palace Museum, the Shanghai Museum, the Nanjing Museum, the Guangdong Provincial Museum and other 30 domestic cultural institutions and the National Library of China and other ancient book collection units, gathered 100 cultural relics exhibits (groups), including 64 works of Xu Wei's calligraphy and paintings, 20 pieces of ancient literature written by Xu Wei and his teachers and friends, 16 works of Xu Wei's post-study works (groups), including 17 first-class cultural relics, 47 second-class cultural relics and 19 third-class cultural relics. This exhibition is the largest, best exhibits and the largest number of exhibitors in Xuwei theme exhibition so far. According to Xu Wei's works of different styles in different periods, through the interpretation of the story behind the works, the exhibition shows the reasons for the formation of his artistic style, aiming to further promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between Qian and Zhejiang, so that more people can understand Xu Wei, walk into Xu Wei, and appreciate the charm of Chinese calligraphy and painting art.
Xu Wei's calligraphy works are popular
This year is the 500th anniversary of Xu Wei's birth, in order to carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture, Shaoxing City specially held a series of commemorative activities, hosted by the Shaoxing Museum "Deformed Qingteng - Xu Wei Calligraphy and Painting Works Exhibition", achieved good social effects. In order to let more people understand Xu Wei, walk into Xu Wei, and appreciate the traditional art of calligraphy and painting, Shaoxing Museum launched the national exhibition of "Deformed Qingteng - The Story of Xu Wei", and the first stop was guiyang Kong Xuetang. Shen Yiping, deputy director of Shaoxing Museum, said that Shaoxing Museum and Confucius Xuetang were related to the 2016 "Lanting Story" exhibition, and in 2017, taking the 545th anniversary of Mr. YangMing's birth as an opportunity, the "Tao of the Sages - The Story of Yang Ming" exhibition of Shaoxing Museum and the "Story of Yang Ming - Calligraphy and Painting Joint Exhibition of Qian and Zhejiang" of Kong Xuetang echoed each other, and today they gathered here to tell the story of Xu Wei together.

Xu Wei (1521-1593), a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang, was a mid-Ming dynasty writer, calligrapher, opera composer and military figure. Xu Wei studied under Wang Yangming's disciples Ji Ben and Wang Qi, and was deeply influenced by Yang Ming's teachings. He describes himself as a "deformed man." "Deformed" canonizes the sentence "deformed from man and dismembered to heaven" in Zhuangzi, which means different from the popular genius. In the view of Zhou Zhijiang, deputy director of the Guiyang Confucius Academy Cultural Communication Center, Xu Wei was in Guizhou for scientific expeditions in that year, and he was a re-disciple of Mr. Wang Yangming, and he had a special fate with Guizhou.
Proficient in Buddhism and Confucianism, Xu Wei is also versatile, and is unique in literature, poetry, calligraphy, painting and opera, showing an artistic style that originates from tradition and innovation. "Xu Wei is a great man and a genius in the history of painting. His painting is not a presentation of technique, but a kind of mentality, whether it is painting, calligraphy, poetry, it is surging to read, and it is worthy of our admiration. Han Yaming, vice president of the Guizhou Provincial Chinese Painting Society, commented.
At the exhibition site, the organizer also launched adult publicity leaflets and children's editions of the study manual, and there was a Xuwei animation story player in the exhibition hall, which helped audiences at different levels to understand the works and enrich the visiting experience.
