Meet beijing volunteers | Goffey: The camera doesn't leave your hand and you learn as you shoot

Goffey is at the service of journalists at all times

Since the beginning of October, several Winter Olympic venues in Beijing have successfully held a number of "Meet in Beijing" series of winter sports events, and the busy figures of volunteers have left a deep impression. As the area most directly related to the work of frontline journalists, the media function area of each venue assumes an important function. The volunteers here work every day is trivial and indispensable. In the view of volunteer Ge Fei, being able to work with professional journalists every day to help and serve them is a good learning process in itself, which benefits her a lot.

Ge Fei, a junior in the School of Journalism at the Communication University of China, is from Shandong, and this time she and more than 20 students from the university volunteer in the media field of Ice Cube to provide information services for journalists. Since she is a journalism student, Ge Fei attaches great importance to this experience. "It's really not the same feeling because there are a lot of journalists in the media who can see here, and they're all my predecessors," she said. The thought that I might become one of them in the future was inexplicably excited, and I also longed for such a job. But now, as a media student, I am committed to volunteering, which is a responsibility and mission. Of course, I think it's also a very good opportunity to learn and experience, so I cherish it. ”

Ge Fei's camera is always in hand, recording important moments at any time

In an interview, Ge Fei still held the camera in her hand and refused to put it down, she replied with a smile, which is also part of her job: "In fact, the sign-in place for media reporters to enter the venue, from there, it has been the job of our volunteers in the media field, all the way to the media rest area and the interview area, which is our responsibility." The two-shift media area volunteers each have 11 people in each group, and the rotation is held at regular intervals. I am holding up the camera now because when the mixed mining area was open just now, I needed to record some interview moments, which was also convenient for us to accumulate materials. ”

When asked what issues he was mainly concerned about in the process of observing the work and interviews of reporters, Ge Fei said: "For example, when I watch photography teachers take pictures, I will pay attention to the scenes and angles they shoot, which is what I want to learn." Of course, in addition to photography and video, the content of the text interview also needs to be pondered. I have had an internship in the media before, and this learning opportunity is also very rare. ”

Although she is already one of the student leaders of the media field volunteers, Ge Fei, who is a junior in college this year, knows that she has a lot to learn. In addition to studying, she also has a lot of work to do, the above-mentioned material shooting is a major content, in addition to the work of communication and docking with the school and so on. "In fact, I am not only a volunteer, but also play a role as a servicer and manager, I also need to shoulder the responsibility of docking other volunteers, in the guidance, service of some of the guarantee issues in a timely manner to report and solve the problems at any time." Ge Fei said.

In addition to serving the media, Ge Fei is also a communication bridge for volunteer partners

According to Ge Fei, in fact, she still has an important job to do, that is, to convey the needs of her classmates, solve the worries of her classmates, and enhance their enthusiasm for volunteer service, which is a big challenge for her young. She said: "The students who come to the venue to volunteer are very hard, many people come here at 6 o'clock in the morning, and the latest may be more than 10 o'clock at night to go back, and they may face some problems both physically and psychologically." Therefore, we will let everyone relax through some small team-building activities, encourage each other, and share the daily work to mobilize the enthusiasm of volunteers. After this time together, we also gained precious friendship with each other. ”

Some people may have such a question: journalism volunteers in the media functional area just do some simple work of distributing transcripts, will this create a psychological gap for them? In this regard, Ge Fei made a negative answer: "I don't think there is such a problem. Whatever work is done, it's essentially volunteering, and all of our efforts are made to keep the whole event running smoothly. Everyone has participated in volunteering for other events or events to a greater or lesser extent before, so they are also mentally prepared for these tasks. What makes me most happy is that we have gained a lot of money here, not only to learn professional knowledge to improve practical experience, but also to make a lot of friends, which is a kind of improvement for each of us. So everyone cherishes this opportunity and is ready to do more when the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games arrive.
