Comrade Shaoqi was holding an important leading position in the party and the state at that time; instead of unprincipledly accommodating to his son's inappropriate demands, nor did he simply reprimand him for a long time, he grasped the erroneous ideas such as individualism that he had exposed on this issue, wrote three long letters, conducted in-depth and meticulous analysis and serious criticism, and hoped that he would humbly accept the criticism and help of the organization and his classmates and correct his mistakes. Comrade Shaoqi also reflected the situation to the party organization and classmates of his son's unit, hoping to carry out criticism and education for him.
