Emperor Hui of Han, Liu Ying, was born cowardly and had a benevolent disposition, which was very different from his father Liu Bang and his mother Lü Hou. At the time of Liu Bang's death, Liu Ying was only 16 years old and succeeded him as the second emperor of the Western Han Dynasty. However, the good times did not last long, only reigned for 7 years, and died at the age of 23.
Liu Ying's early death was not a congenital illness in his body, nor was he killed by death, but he died of depression. The main reason for his depression and death was that he could not stand it so much that he hated the dictatorship and cruelty of his birth mother, Lü Hou. Lü Hou first killed Liu Ying's half-brother, Liu Ruyi, who was later married by Liu Bang's concubine, liu Ruyi, who was crowned King of Zhao. Later, he reduced Lady Qi to a slave, and then chopped off her limbs, shaved her eyes, cut off her tongue, smoked deaf and dumb, and tortured her into a pig-like "human body" and abandoned her in the latrine. What made Liu Ying most resentful and fearful was that Lü Hou also deliberately let him visit to set an example. Liu Ying, who was already cowardly and benevolent, was frightened by this, angry and hateful but helpless, so he fell seriously ill, and was bedridden, and finally died of depression.
Emperor Hui of Han reigned for 7 years, and the government was controlled by Empress Lü. However, "death is like life", the emperor should enjoy a lot of posthumous treatment. At the beginning of Liu Ying's succession, the construction of Anling also began. Although Liu Ying's reign was short and he had no autonomy, the final scale of the mausoleum, including the tombs of King Ruyi of Zhao and Empress Liu Yingzhang, as well as funerals, burials, and counties, reached a total area of 800,000 square meters, which is said to be the largest of the 11 emperors' mausoleums in the Western Han Dynasty.
After more than two thousand years have passed, the Tomb of Liu Ying, the Emperor of Han Hui, has gone through the vicissitudes of time and the cycle of four seasons, and the burial objects in the tomb may have been stolen long ago. However, the tomb form is still in place, and in 2001 it was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit by the state, but it is still in the original closed form.
When the author went to Xianyang Yuan and found the tomb where Emperor Hui of Han was buried, he saw that the iron door was locked, rusty, or had been closed for many days.
