"Diogo was an outstanding player, an outstanding boy," Klopp said. 'Perfect signing because he has everything a Liverpool player in the squad needs.

'He has technical and physical skills, he's very smart and can learn all the tactical knowledge very quickly, and in addition to that, he can play in all three positions.'

Allison had to make too many rescues at Anfield and while Klopp didn't mind needing his "goalkeeper", his save had to be "spectacular".

It's time for Liverpool to "really work hard" so they can "defend as seriously, steadily and ruthlessly as possible."

There have been some missteps this season, but Liverpool's elite mentality is still on display.

Klopp said: "What has happened to this team in the last few years has been special, and it's mainly because of the outstanding mentality of the boys."

"I don't think we deserve too much praise for playing the best football we can every three days, but I don't take it for granted."
