Mr. Barkin's 117th birthday
November 25, 2021 is the 117th anniversary of Mr. Barkin's birth, and December 1, 2021 is the 10th anniversary of the opening of Barkin's former residence. Shanghai is the city where Mr. Ba Jin has lived for a long time, and 113 Wukang Road is his home, so it has a special significance.
In September 1955, Mr. Ba Jin's family moved in and settled at No. 113 Wukang Road, a room that records the bits and pieces of ba jin's family and witnesses the ups and downs of Chinese literature.
In June 1956, Ba Jin wrote in a letter to his wife Xiao Shan: "I am very happy to know that you like our house, I like our meadow and the grapevine, and when I come back, the grapes must have borne a lot of big fruits." The children are happy, and so am I happy. Hopefully the bookshelf will be ready by that time. Did the landlord take the glass window? I hope to be able to write something while quietly staying in Shanghai. ”
After the death of Ms. Xiao Shan in 1972, Mr. Barkin still lived here, even if the figure of the warm hostess here is still vivid. But Ba Jin wrote in the article "Remembering Xiao Shan": "I am by no means pessimistic. I'm going to try to live more. I want to work for our socialist motherland until the last breath of my life. When I was incapacitated, I hoped to have the novels translated by Xiao Shan on my sickbed. When I close my eyes forever, let my ashes be with hers. ”
After the death of Mr. Barkin on 17 October 2005, the matter of the opening of Barkin's house to the public was on the agenda. Zhou Limin, executive deputy director of Ba Jin's former residence, said: "The brewing of Ba Jin's former residence began with Ba Jin's long journey. During the funeral, one day, the leaders of the Chinese Writers Association led many writers to mourn, and on that day, the living room of No. 113 Wukang Road was crowded with various gods and immortals. I remember Mr. Feng Jicai going around in the sun and saying with deep feeling: Every corner here has left the breath of Ba Lao, which should be well preserved. ”
Ten years in a hurry are like a white colt crossing the gap. Since its opening on December 1, 2011, The Former Residence of Barkin has been open to all sectors of the community free of charge and has received 1515072 visitors.
