WHAT IS SUCCESS
The connotation of success
by Ralph Waldo Emerson
What is success?
To laugh often and love much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
And the affection of children;
To earn the approbation of honest critics
And endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To give oneself;
What is success?
Laughter is always open, love is always there,
Win the respect of the wise,
Children's love;
Win sincere recognition,
Tolerate betrayal of a friend;
Appreciate the beautiful things,
Discover the cuteness of others.
Learn to give selflessly.
To leave the world a little better,
Whether by a healthy child,
A garden patch,
Or a redeemed social condition;
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm
And sung with exultation;
To know even one life has breathed easier,
Because you have lived……
This is to have succeeded.
Add sparkle to the world:
or raise healthy children,
Or leave a piece of the garden,
or the improvement of social conditions;
Have fun and laugh freely,
Sing the song of joy;
Even knowing that a life is free to live,
Because you've been along the way...
That's what success means.
