Many people can't imagine that Feng Xueying, a skinny-looking Jiangsu girl, has a stronger psychological endurance than many strong men - she is a forensic doctor in the criminal investigation detachment of the Changsha Municipal Public Security Bureau, and it is common to face the body of the deceased. Even in the harsher exploration environment, she did not have fear in her heart, but was committed to stripping away the cocoon from the subtle stubs and restoring the truth.

Although she has only been involved in the work for more than 4 years, she has participated in the investigation of more than 300 major cases (incidents) of various major cases, and won the first prize in the second criminal technology vocational skills competition in Hunan Province with her excellent professional ability. For the sake of the rights of the living and the words of the deceased, she practiced the original intention and mission of a Communist Party member and a people's policeman with practical actions, and as a party representative who will attend the 12th Provincial Party Congress, she knows more about the heavy responsibility on her shoulders.

Braving the rain to investigate the bones and "dig up" the evidence of the murder case

On November 22, in the forensic room of the technical brigade of the criminal investigation detachment of the Changsha Municipal Public Security Bureau, Feng Xueying was conducting a pathological histology examination of the tissues extracted from the on-site investigation. As a forensic doctor, her place of work may change at any time, and after the case, even in the early hours of the night, she must set off quickly, and the scene that needs to be investigated may be in the streets and alleys, or between the mountains and fields.

"Over time, due to the weather, environment and other factors, the situation on site may change, so timeliness is very critical." Feng Xueying said that once the investigation task is received, he and his colleagues will work overtime no matter how late, because the sooner the survey results come out, the more they can promote the detection of the case as soon as possible.

In the "Yunjian-2020" murder case backlog battle, Feng Xueying and colleagues targeted every unsolved murder case in Changsha, from the detection of omissions and gaps in the file, to the cleaning and inspection of physical evidence, and the on-site re-investigation of the crime scene, they carefully investigated one by one, playing a key role in the detection of multiple homicide backlogs.

In September 2020, in response to a backlog of homicides, she went to a village in Liuyang City to conduct a coffin autopsy. The deceased died in 1998, and 22 years later, the body is completely bone-boned. At that time, the bones were completely scattered, and they braved the rain to extract the bones and piece them together to make sure that no pieces were left behind, and then carefully examined the suspicious traces of each bone.

"Finally, we found marks of injury on the skull of the deceased." Feng Xueying said that through careful observation and consideration of the characteristics and morphology of the damage marks, they deduced the characteristics of the injury-causing tools and restored the injury process of the deceased, which played an important role in the improvement of the evidence chain and criminal proceedings in the case.

"Focus on finding clues, don't be afraid at all"

In the eyes of most people, the profession of forensic medicine may seem sacred, but it requires overcoming many psychological obstacles to dare to engage. Born in 1991, Feng Xueying has buried the dream of forensic medicine in her heart since she was a child.

"When I was a child, I watched tv series such as "Forensic Song Ci" and "Forensic Records", and I thought it was cool to be a forensic doctor!" Feng Xueying said that the reason why she finds this profession cool is because forensic doctors can rely on their meticulous observation and analysis to provide objective evidence for the detection of the case, maintain fairness and justice, and combat crime.

When she graduated from the college entrance examination and filled in the volunteer form, she filled in all the forensic science majors. In July 2017, after graduating from the Department of Forensic Medicine of Sun Yat-sen Medical College of Sun Yat-sen University, she joined the Changsha Municipal Public Security Bureau to engage in forensic work.

In the face of all kinds of crime scenes and even high-rotten corpses, will there be a sense of fear in your heart? Feng Xueying replied: "When investigating, I will naturally regard this as a scientific work, and my concentration is on finding clues, so I will not be afraid at all." ”

Feng Xueying still remembers the first independent investigation of the scene after he joined the work, which was a suffocation death case (incident). "When I was studying in school, I only needed to investigate the body, but in the process of work, I not only needed to investigate the scene and draw conclusions based on all aspects of the situation, but also to communicate patiently with the family of the deceased." After Feng Xueying's investigation, he ruled out the possibility of criminal cases, and also carefully and comprehensively answered the questions of the family members, "Although the people who participated in the case at that time were not major cases, they really felt that what they did was valuable, for the rights of the living and for the deceased." ”

In the provincial criminal technology competition, he won the first prize

"You don't look at her work years is not long, usually her personality is also very lively, when she devotes herself to work, she is extremely rigorous and meticulous." Chen Jie, a police officer at the Technical University of the Criminal Investigation Detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, said that today, Feng Xueying is recognized as an expert by her colleagues.

Over the past four years, Feng Xueying has participated in the investigation of more than 300 major cases (incidents) of various kinds, participated in more than 600 forensic injury appraisals, based on forensic professional skills, and played an important role in the investigation and handling of a large number of difficult cases. She also continuously expanded the field of forensic professional and technical services in Changsha, carried out histopathology and diatom examination of cadavers in water, and participated in the establishment of the only forensic histopathology laboratory of hunan provincial public security organs, which was rated as a key forensic laboratory of public security organs nationwide.

In November last year, Feng Xueying and colleagues represented the Changsha Municipal Public Security Bureau in the second Hunan Provincial Criminal Technology Vocational Skills Competition, winning the first prize of the group, and Feng Xueying also won the first prize of the individual. For her outstanding work, she was awarded the "Hunan Province May Day Labor Medal".

"The Twelfth Provincial Party Congress is about to be held, and it is not only an honor but also a responsibility for me to be elected as a party deputy." Feng Xueying said that she will continue to brave difficulties, based on criminal science and technology to combat illegal crimes and safeguard fairness and justice.
