The arbitrator's ruling, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, awarded MRC $29.5 million in damages and $1.4 million in attorneys' fees. The ruling was reportedly made in October 2020, and earlier this month, Spacey's appeal was dismissed.

"The safety of our employees, scenarios and work environments is critical to MRC and why we set out to drive accountability." Mr. C said in a statement after filing a document with a Los Angeles court on Monday confirming the arbitral award.

The company severed ties with Spacey in 2017, who played Frank Underwood in the Netflix hit House of Cards. Spacey was accused of assaulting underage boys and production crew that year, the show's sixth season, which was in production at the time, was cancelled, Spacey's role was subsequently replaced, and the release of the series was delayed, and the show had to be shortened from 13 to 8 to meet the deadline.

To compensate for losses caused by delays, rewrites, and shortening of episodes, MRC filed a confidential arbitration in early 2019. Spacey then filed a counterclaim, claiming that he was still owed money under his agreement.

After an eight-day arbitral hearing in February 2020, arbitrators released a 46-page ruling later that year, favorable to the MRC, but the document remained confidential.

Spacey faces multiple lawsuits over sexual assault allegations. The first accuser, actor Adam Rapp, filed a civil lawsuit against him last year and is still pending.

In 2019, Massachusetts prosecutors dropped a criminal charge against Spacey after a victim under the age of 18 at the time of the crime refused to testify.

In another civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, the death of plaintiff John Doe led to the case being dropped. (Original title: Blocked for sexual assault allegations Spacey was sentenced to 31 million yuan in damages to "House of Cards")
