Recently, the Hurun Research Institute released the "2021 Hurun Top 100 Foreign-Funded and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Enterprises in China", which aims to find foreign-funded and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan enterprises that have contributed the most to China's economy, mainly referring to the two dimensions of sales and number of employees in China.

Last year, the top 100 companies had sales of 5.9 trillion yuan in China, equivalent to 6% of the country's GDP, and a total of 2.5 million employees in China. 61% of these businesses are direct-to-consumers and 39% are B2B businesses. 82% sell physical products and 18% sell software or services. The automotive, healthcare, consumer goods and consumer electronics industries are the most on the list, with the top four industries accounting for half of the top 100.

Among them, the top of the list is the world's largest mobile phone foundry Hon Hai Precision, the second is Volkswagen, and the third is General Motors. Apple, the world's most valuable company, ranks fourth. The companies in the fifth to tenth place are: Toyota Motor, Chia Tai, HSBC, Robert Bosch, Samsung Electronics and Honda Motor.

The top 100 companies come from 15 countries and regions, of which the United States has the largest number of enterprises, with 34; followed by Japan with 14, the United Kingdom and Germany tied for third, with 12 respectively, and France with 8. There are 3 enterprises in China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions on the list.
