China and India held the 23rd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on Border Affairs: Actively preparing for the 14th round of talks at the military commander level

Beijing, 18 Nov (China News Service) -- On 18 November, Hong Liang, director of the Department of Border and Maritime Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Shi Naien, assistant secretary of the Department of East Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, co-chaired by video the 23rd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs. Representatives of the foreign affairs, national defense, immigration and other departments of the two countries attended.

The two sides expressed their intention to continue to work hard to further ease the border situation in accordance with the spirit of the consensus reached at the Dushanbe meeting of foreign ministers of the two countries and strive to change from emergency response to normal control as soon as possible. The two sides had a frank and in-depth exchange of views on the recent situation in the China-India border area, and agreed to consolidate the existing disengagement results, strictly abide by the agreements signed by the two sides and the relevant consensus reached, and avoid recurrence of the situation on the ground.

The two sides agreed to maintain dialogue and communication through diplomatic and military channels, actively prepare for the 14th round of military commander-level talks, and make efforts to resolve the remaining issues in the western section of the Sino-Indian boundary. (End)
