On November 19, 2020, in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets selected Lamelo Ball with a poker.

On December 24, the Charlotte Hornets lost 114-121 to the Cleveland Cavaliers, played 15 minutes with three goals, and finished their NBA career debut with 1 rebound and 3 assists.

On January 10, 2021, the Charlotte Hornets defeated the Atlanta Hawks 113-105, playing three goals for 30 minutes and shooting 9 of 13, including the first 7 of all, with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.
