The Tang Dynasty was another great unified dynasty after the Sui Dynasty, with a total of twenty-one emperors and 289 years of the country. The Tang Dynasty is mainly divided into the early and middle and late periods, and its dividing line is the Anshi Rebellion that occurred during the Tianbao years of Tang Xuanzong, and the more famous emperors in the middle and late periods are Tang Xianzong, Tang Wuzong and other emperors, but before Tang Xianzong there was also an emperor with a particularly low sense of existence, he was Tang Shunzong Li Shu. So today we will explore Tang Shunzong Li Shu, who has been the crown prince for twenty years, but why did he only reign for three months?

Tang Shunzong Li Xuan had been the crown prince for twenty years, but why did he only reign for three months?

First of all, it is because of health problems. According to the "Records of Shunzong" written by Han Yu, a famous literary scholar of the Tang Dynasty, it can be known that Tang Shunzong Li Shu's health was very bad: "Twenty-one years of the first lunar month, Including the Yuan Temple was accepted by the dynasty. Also to the other halls, the relatives of the kings entered the congratulations, the crown prince was ill and could not go to the court, and Emperor Dezong wept over it. So much so that as a crown prince, he could not go to the court to join the relatives of the kings. Finally, he also said in his testament that he "degenerated from a weak age, that is, Dun Qingjing; Caught in the near age, and the baby is depressed. Taste also pro-government, good tired of diligence... Now that the disease is getting worse and worse, if you are not happy, and if you entrust people with trust, why should you hate it?"

Secondly, there is the issue of the town. As early as the reign of Emperor Dezong of Tang, we can know that the Tang Dynasty was very unstable internally, such as feudal towns, eunuchs, and other internal problems. After Tang Shunzong li xuan took office, only drastic reforms could be solved, but since reform was to be carried out, it was bound to touch the interests of some forces. It can be said that Tang Shunzong, like Wu Zetian, before he became emperor, he gathered a group of officials who were committed to changing the situation in the middle and late Tang Dynasty to assist him.

In the middle, there are many writers and poets that we later know, such as Liu Zongyuan and Liu Yuxi. Therefore, after Tang Shunzong ascended the throne, he launched the most drastic reform since the middle and late Tang Dynasties, known in history as the "Yongzhen Reform". In this reform, Tang Shunzong mainly targeted the emissaries of the feudal towns, the officials in the court, and the eunuchs who relied on the imperial power, but like stabbing the honeycomb, Tang Shunzong offended all the reform opponents at once, and the imperial throne naturally did not sit for long.

Tang Shunzong's health became the biggest obstacle to his reforms, providing an excellent opportunity for eunuchs and envoys of the feudal lords. In the end, these opponents decided to establish a new monarch, and the eunuch Ju Wenzhen and others supported Li Chun, the king of Guangling County, as crown prince in the third year of Zhenyuan's twenty-first year, and later changed his name to Li Chun. In August of the same year, the eunuch Ju Wenzhen and others issued an edict in the name of Tang Shunzong Li Shu, giving the crown prince Li Chun the title of emperor for Tang Xianzong.

After Tang Xianzong Li Chun ascended the throne, Tang Shunzong Li Shu abdicated the throne as Emperor Taishang, and the history called "Yongzhen Neichan" (August Gengzi, Edict: Yiling Crown Prince is the emperor.) He was called emperor Taishang, juxingqing Palace, and was called a curse. )。
