Miramax filed a lawsuit on the 16th, accusing Quentin Tarantino, a well-known Hollywood director, of selling NFTs (non-homogeneous tokens) based on the script of the movie "Pulp Fiction", infringing copyright.

According to Beijing News and Sina Entertainment, NFT auctions have recently become very popular, and the full name of NFTs is Non-Fungible Token, which refers to non-homogeneous tokens, which are the only cryptocurrency tokens used to represent digital assets (including jpg and video clip forms). NFTs can be bought and sold, just like tangible assets.

Quentin Tarantino announced earlier this month that he plans to release seven NFTs based on the film Pulp Fiction, including excerpts from Quentin's original handwritten script for the film and film reviews. But according to the lawsuit filed by Miramax Pictures, Quentin did not negotiate the matter with Miramax, which owns the rights to Pulp Fiction.

At present, Miramax has issued a termination letter through lawyers to try to stop the auction. In addition, Miramax Pictures' statement said Quentin Tarantino's move interfered with its marketing plans to promote pulp fiction NFTs, and accused Quentin's team of "deliberate, premeditated, short-term money grabs." Specifically, Miramax alleges Quentin's breach of contract, unfair competition and trademark infringement in his complaint.

"Tarantino's actions forced Miramax to sue a key collaborator to protect indentured and intellectual property related to one of Miramax's most iconic and valuable films," the complaint states, alleging that Miramax retains the right to develop, trade, and sell its copyrighted film, NTF, and that Quentin's actions "may mislead others into thinking that Miramax is involved in his business activities."

However, Quentin Tarantino's lawyers said the director was acting within his reserved rights, particularly the right to "publish the play".

According to public information, Pulp Fiction is a crime film directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Amanda Pramo, Tim Rose and others. The film was released in the United States on October 14, 1994. The film won the Best Original Screenplay Award at the 67th Academy Awards and the Best Screenplay Award at the 52nd Golden Globe Awards. (End)
