The first Plateau Energy Industry and Ecology Research Center on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was inaugurated

The first Plateau Energy Industry and Ecology Research Center on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was officially inaugurated on the 17th by the People's Government of Qinghai Province, the Institute of Plateau Science and Sustainable Development of Beijing Normal University (hereinafter referred to as the "Academy of High Sciences").

The research center was jointly initiated by the Academy of High Sciences, The Yellow River Hydropower Company of China State Power Investment Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the "Yellow River Company"), the Qinghai Provincial Energy Bureau, and the Qinghai Normal University.

According to reports, the Plateau Energy Industry and Ecology Research Center serves the development and utilization of energy resources in China's plateau area, especially in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region, coordinates research and development forces in all aspects, and jointly explores major scientific and technological issues in the process of plateau energy development, utilization, and ecological conservation; carries out the construction of energy science and technology disciplines in the plateau area and the cultivation of basic research talents, and improves the energy research capacity and level of the plateau area. At the same time, we will further meet the needs of governments at all levels in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for scientific and technological achievements in energy development and utilization and ecological conservation, absorb advanced technologies and experience at home and abroad, and systematically improve the efficient and clean utilization of fossil energy, the development and utilization of renewable energy, and the new generation of energy strategies and policies through different forms of scientific research and innovation, talent training and academic exchanges, so as to provide effective scientific and technological support, decision-making consultation and social services.

Shi Peijun, president of the Academy of High Sciences and president of Qinghai Normal University, said that the establishment of the Plateau Energy Industry and Ecology Research Center has opened up a new model of in-depth cooperation between the government, enterprises and schools, and the coordinated development of production, learning and research. At the beginning of its establishment, the research center quickly organized Qinghai Normal University, Beijing Normal University, Shandong University, Yellow River Company, etc. to carry out research and countermeasure research on the construction of the "National Clean Energy Industry Highland"; organized a number of governing units of the Academy of High Science and Technology to implement the research project of "Qinghai Province Carbon Peak Carbon Neutral Key Technology Research and Development and Demonstration Zone Construction" of Qinghai Province' major scientific and technological projects, and the development of these works will surely provide important decision-making reference and strong scientific and technological support for the construction of the national clean energy industry highland.

"This cooperation will carry out research on hydropower, new energy development and ecological environment impact mechanism, regulatory measures, and the evolution of carbon sources and carbon sinks in typical ecosystems under the multi-scenario large-scale photovoltaic development model through the integration of production, learning and research and complementary advantages, so as to provide theoretical and data support for the overall and coordinated development of ecological environmental protection and clean energy, and transform Qinghai's resource advantages into technical advantages and economic advantages." Xie Xiaoping, secretary of the party committee and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yellow River Company, said.

Li Mei, director of the Planning and Legal Affairs Department of the Qinghai Provincial Energy Bureau and economist, said that the establishment of the Plateau Energy Industry and Ecology Research Center is a specific action to serve and support the development of clean energy strategy in Qinghai Province.
