According to witnesses at the scene, the accident occurred near an urban complex on Chuanshan Avenue in Shengxiang District, the project has not yet been delivered, and the sewer wellhead is covered with wooden planks.
After the incident, Hengyang Fire Brigade rushed to the scene for rescue.

Ms. Yang, a resident near the scene of the incident, told reporters that she was a nearby merchant, and after hearing that the child fell into the sewer accident, she was very worried and closed the door to check. She arrived at the scene of the accident at about 8 p.m., the vicinity was already full of people, fire trucks, ambulances were parked at the scene, and fire crews were already on the scene to rescue.
Ms. Yang said that in order to facilitate the rescue of the child, the fire crew pumped out the water in the sewer, but because the wellhead was small, several firefighters could not go down the well, and I heard that a skinny firefighter was replaced later, carrying an oxygen cylinder down the well, and the child was rescued.
Ms. Yang introduced that she did not stay at the scene until the end. As far as she knows, the child was out of breath when she was rescued. According to the on-site personnel at the time, before the incident, the child's mother and grandmother took the child out to dinner. After dinner, the child wanted to play at his grandmother's house, so he walked alone in front, followed by his grandmother and mother. For some reason, the child stepped on a plank covered in the sewer and accidentally fell into the sewer.
According to ms. Feng, a witness at the scene, she also arrived at the scene after the incident, the child fell into the sewer is really heart-wrenching, the rescue work lasted for more than an hour, when the child's parents were also at the scene, crying weakly. Ms. Feng said that the urban complex project at the site of the accident is about to be handed over, but there are still many supporting facilities to be improved, and after the accident, the site has been closed.
