Taipei, 13 Nov (Xinhua) -- The Fifth Invitation Exhibition of Famous Artists on Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait opened in Taipei on 13 November. The organizers expressed the hope that through this joint exhibition, they will enhance the feelings of compatriots on both sides of the strait, promote cross-strait cultural exchanges, and work together to inherit and develop Chinese culture.
Zhang Lianxing, honorary president of the Federation of Non-Profit Organizations in Taiwan, the organizer, introduced that a total of 250 paintings and calligraphy works were exhibited this time, and about 200 famous calligraphers and painters from both sides of the strait participated in the exhibition, including Zhang Huichen, president of the Beijing Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, Zhou Zhigao, chairman of the Shanghai Calligraphers Association, Tang Yunlai, chairman of the Tianjin Calligraphers Association, and Ou Haonian, Liu Guosong, Ding Jinquan, and Zhang Binghuang, well-known artists in Taiwan.
Zhang Binghuang, director of the Wencheng Art Center of Tamkang University in Taiwan, said in an interview that the exhibition has been held for the fifth time, and more and more artists from both sides of the strait have participated in this platform for creative exchanges and exchanges. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for people to communicate face-to-face, but through this exhibition of calligraphy and painting, understanding each other's creative directions and concepts is very helpful for enhancing cross-strait cultural exchanges.
Participating artist Ding Jinquan said that this exhibition shows the achievements and characteristics of contemporary calligraphy and painting art between the mainland and Taiwan, which is conducive to further strengthening communication and exchanges between the calligraphy and painting art circles on both sides of the strait, and is conducive to better carrying forward and inheriting China's excellent traditional culture.
It is reported that the exhibition will last until November 21, during which 15 speeches and creative activities on calligraphy and painting will be held.
