Like Fan Zhongyan's sentence "Yanran did not return to the uncounted", it is quoted that the Eastern Han Dynasty general Dou Xian, who broke the Northern Xiongnu Yu Luoshan, chased the north for three thousand miles, and then climbed yanran mountain and carved the allusion of Shi Legong. The author of this stone inscription is also an acquaintance of everyone, he is the brother of Dingyuan Marquis Ban Chao, Ban Gu.

In the first year of the Yongyuan Dynasty, Dou Xian and his deputy Geng Bing entangled their troops, each leading four thousand cavalry in the Northern Expedition against the Xiongnu. Combining 10,000 cavalry in Southern Danyu and more than 10,000 soldiers in the Liao general Deng Hongqiang Hu, a total of 30,000 horsemen, they slaughtered and slaughtered to the hinterland of the Northern Xiongnu.

The results recorded in the Book of later Han are: the Great Destruction, the collapse of the people, Shan Yu fled, pursued the various departments, and then approached the private canal Biju (Di) Sea.

In this battle, the Han army beheaded more than 13,000 people and captured more than a million heads of cattle, cattle and sheep. The remaining 81 units of Mobei surrendered, totaling 200,000 people.
After the Northern Xiongnu were seriously injured in this battle, and more than a year after the fly camp dog Gou, Dou Xian sent the right lieutenants Geng Kui and Sima Renshang to lead an army to conquer the Northern Yujin Weishan, and once again broke it.
And after being beaten several times, Beidan Yu also understood in his heart that the world is big, so why should he be angry at a tree. Finally, he may have gritted his teeth and stomped his feet, and fled further west with the remnants. The Book of the Later Han Dynasty records that the whereabouts of their gang are unknown, which means that their whereabouts are unknown.
Therefore, objectively speaking, Dou Xian's achievements in the use of troops against the Xiongnu were not inferior to those of his predecessors, or even surpassed.
Fan Ye, the author of the Book of the Later Han Dynasty, commented on Dou Xianxia with an interesting expression. Probably means that Wei Qing and Huo went ill and relied on strong men, and the country was dragged down after years of using troops against the Xiongnu, but the Xiongnu's plague was not completely eliminated, and later generations called them good generals.
However, Dou Xian led the Qianghu Bian miscellaneous division to settle the Battle of Jiluoshan, chasing the dead and chasing the north, ploughing the court to sweep the caves, and drinking horses on the side of the private canal. If you take his exploits seriously, you are afraid that they will be more brilliant than those of their predecessors. But why did no one praise him in later generations?
The reason fan Ye summed up was that Dou Xian was not good at being a person and had problems with his character. So how bad is Dou Xian's character? This has to start with his family lineage.
Dou Xian was Dou Rong's great-grandson. Dou Rong was first a powerful warlord in the northwest region, and because of his unique wisdom, he followed Liu Xiufa to become rich. After the world was flattened, Dou Rong became the third duke, and the Dou clan became a large family during the Eastern Han Dynasty.
However, Dou Xian's grandfather Dou Mu and father Dou Xun stole and did not do the right thing, and were sent to prison, and both died in prison. This made Dou Xian lose his father when he was very young, resulting in a break in family education, and his personality was not perfectly shaped, which made Xiao Dou develop a flying temperament, and at the same time, he was also a bit vicious.

However, the current world report also came quickly, and this matter was known to his brother-in-law Emperor Zhangdi of Han, who invited Dou Xian to reprimand him severely and ordered him to return the tian mansion.
In the face of the thunderous anger of the big guy, Dou Xian was not afraid that it was fake, and he thought about it behind closed doors at home and obediently stopped for a few years.
However, Emperor Zhangdi of Han did not live long, and at the age of thirty-one he drove to Hexi, and his son Liu Zhao was still a ten-year-old child when he ascended the throne, so Empress Dou came to the court to listen to the government and control the authority, and the foreign clique entered the center of power.
Several brothers of the Dou clan became high-ranking officials, especially Dou Xian, who held the position of servant, secretly kept secrets inside, pronounced edicts externally, and became the actual controllers of the government by virtue of superior means.
But Dou Xian's hands were too dark. Liu Chang, the Marquis of Duxiang, came to Luoyang for a visit and was favored by Empress Dowager Dou. Dou Xian was afraid that Liu Chang would make a moth and take away his rights, so he did not stop doing anything, sent assassins to kill Liu Chang, and finally blamed the crime on his brother.
I have to say that Dou Xian is a typical example of a non-toxic husband. However, the current world report came so fiercely that the assassination was soon exposed, which made Empress Dou furious and locked Dou Xian up.
At this time, Dou Xian was also a little afraid in his heart, afraid that his sister would come to a great righteousness to kill his relatives, so he thought of a clever trick and asked himself to attack the Xiongnu to atone for the death penalty.
In this way, the emperor of the mountain is far away, and after a few years, the wind and waves are calm, and he returns as a good man. If you can do some results, you can also raise your eyebrows.
Therefore, who among us could have imagined that the starting point of Yanran's carved stone would be like this.
But there are two sides to the matter, or maybe Dou Xian is really just trying to be strong and attack the Xiongnu to atone for his death. In less than three years, he uprooted the Northern Xiongnu and forced Beidan Yu to leave his hometown, and his merits and talents cannot be denied.
As for the fate of the Dou clan later, there is not much to say, Han and Emperor Yingwu were young and heroic, and pressed the foreign relatives group down.
All in all, as a historical figure who wants to be respected by future generations, virtue and talent can not be less, and those who have virtue are more favored.
However, the past has been more than a thousand years, no matter how many grand ambitions have been fierce, it has now become a paragraph in the history books, and the merits and demerits are only said by posterity.
