Li Shengduo, a native of Dehua, Jiangxi Province. He successively served as the editor of the Hanlin Academy of the Qing Dynasty, the assistant of the National History Museum, the cabinet attendant, the Beijing Office of Kyoto University, the Shanxi Cloth Administration Department, and the Inspector of Shaanxi. In 1906, Li Shengduo, Zai Ze, Dai Hongci, Duan Fang, Shang Qiheng and other five ministers went to the Eastern and Western countries to investigate politics in order to prepare for the establishment of a constitution. After the founding of the Republic of China, he served as Yuan Shikai's adviser to the president, the chief of agriculture and commerce, and the speaker of the Senate.

The Li family's collection of books began with his grandfather Li Shu, which built the "Wooden Rhinoceros Xuan", which has tens of thousands of volumes. Father Li Mingqi is also widely collected. By the time of Li Shengduo, there were more than 100,000 volumes of books, and many famous books at home and abroad had been collected. During his mission to Japan, he became acquainted with Shimada Han, a scholar of bibliophile history, and purchased many Chinese books scattered in Japan, as well as many korean and Japanese ancient engravings and manuscripts, many of which were domestic kuyu books. There are more than 9,000 books and more than 58,000 volumes, as well as rare ancient inscriptions of Buddhist classics, and the collection is extremely exquisite.

He was not only a bibliophile, but also a collator, editionist, and bibliographer, and he ordered the rare books he collected one by one, or examined the author's life, or translated the purpose of the writings, or described the history of the books, the source of the collection, and the value of the editions. He has written more than 1,500 articles and "inscriptions", about 150,000 words, and has authored the "Inscriptions and Bibliographies of the Shuxuan Collection", and has compiled more than ten editions of the bibliography and bibliophile table. In his later years, Li Shengduo lived in Tianjin as a yugong, no longer paying attention to political affairs, but only traveling to and from the Beijing-Tianjin Bookstore, intently collecting ancient books. He died in Tianjin in 1934 at the age of 76.
