MOSCOW, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on 10 November, focusing on the issue of refugees on the border between Belarus and EU countries.
A statement on the Kremlin website said on the same day that Putin and Merkel discussed in detail the issue of refugees at the border between Belarus and EU countries in the phone call, and expressed concern about the humanitarian consequences caused by the migration crisis.
The statement said Putin proposed that EU member states communicate directly with representatives of Belarus to discuss existing issues. The two sides of the call indicated that dialogue on this issue would continue.
Since August this year, in order to enter Western European countries such as Germany, more and more refugees from the Middle East have entered EU member states Poland and Lithuania through Belarus, and the pressure on border control between Bolivia and Lithuania has increased. Refugees are reportedly in a difficult situation due to the lack of adequate food, water and medical care in the border areas, coupled with the need to evade capture by Poland and Lithuania, and many deaths have been reported.
