Although we often say that personal effort is very important and no one can succeed casually, luck and opportunity are also very critical. The destiny of destiny and the course of history are even more important than individual efforts.
For example, there is a student in the countryside, who is very talented and works hard, but because he was born poor, he must spend a lot of time to earn money to support his family, and he has not met Bole, and may end up in the countryside and become the jewel of the times.
For another example, there is a person who is young and ambitious, a young Kodi, and a young man, but due to the jealousy of talent, he died at a young age, so all the efforts of the first half of his life were also in vain, and he could not continue to climb higher mountains.
Moreover, in the arrangement of fate, heaven is also very unfair. Some people are born with bad luck and have a bad life, while some people's lives are like hanging up, and all the benefits of the Fulu Shou Examination are occupied by him. During the Daoguang years of the Qing Dynasty, there was a very lucky prime minister, his name was Pan Shien.
How good Pan Shien's luck really was, Chen Kangqi at the end of the Qing Dynasty gave us an inventory:
"There are five courtiers of this dynasty, five of whom are born and added to the Taifu, eight who feast on Qionglin, and eight who are the prime ministers, but Pan Wengong is also the duke. And the great worship is not co-organized, the cardinal court does not start to study, all are different numbers. Rich and noble, descendants inherit martial arts, public welfare, three hundred years one person has been. ”
First explain a few concepts. "Taifu" is one of the three dukes, which was a fictitious title during the Qing Dynasty, but represented a high honor. Most of the people who were named Taifu were posthumously gifted and could be given the title of Taifu while they were alive, and there were only 5 people in the entire Qing Dynasty (another said to be 11), and Pan Shien was one of them.
"Qionglin" is the "Qionglin Feast" attended by the new Kewen Wujinshi after the annual examination, also known as the "Deer Ming Feast". And "heavy feast Qionglin" means that when you have been admitted to the jinshi for 60 years, you can participate in the deer feast with the new branch jinshi again. Those who can feast on Qionglin, one is a high lifespan, the other is to be an official for a long time, and only 8 people in the entire Qing Dynasty can enjoy this honor.
"The prime minister" is easier to understand. "Great worship is not a co-organizer" refers to the fact that when Pan Shien entered the cabinet to worship the chancellor, he did not go through the stage of "co-organizing university fellows" and directly became a zhengyipin court scholar; "The cardinal court did not start studying" means that when Pan Shi'en entered the military aircraft department, he did not go through the process of "walking and learning" and directly became a legitimate military aircraft minister.
Being able to skip these two "internship periods" is extremely rare among ministers of the Qing dynasty. And Pan Shi'en can combine all the above honors and favors, and after four dynasties, he lived for a full 86 years, saying that he is the luckiest prime minister of the Qing Dynasty in the past 300 years, I am afraid that no one will object.
In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, there was a prime minister with such good luck, why did he say that it was the sadness of the Qing Dynasty? The reason is that it was the degeneration of the atmosphere of that era that created such a high-ranking official with such good luck.
Does Penh Shien have the ability and talent? Obviously, there is, and it is clear that he can be admitted to the Imperial Examination. Is Penh Shih-eun a traitor? Nor is it, there are no bad deeds in his career. During the Xianfeng Dynasty, Pan Shien also recommended Lin Zexu, which shows that he is not ignorant. However, Pan Shien was in a high position, but he could not play the role he should have, and the Draft History of the Qing Dynasty recorded:
"In the seventeenth year of the Cardinal Court, he was cautious and careful, and he made some arguments, and finally did not tell anyone. When the Haijiang incident arose, Lin Zexu's discussion was played, and the court discussed many praises; and Mu Zhang'a's lord fu, Shi En's heart was right, and he could not show a difference. ”
Penh Shih-eun is a prime minister, but every time he encounters something, he acts like an outsider and never expresses his opinion. During the Opium War, Mu Zhang'a advocated peace with the British, but Pan Shi'en thought it was wrong in his heart, but did not dare to openly oppose it. Even Lin Zexu, who was later recommended, only dared to play after Xianfeng dismissed Mu Zhang'a.
That is to say, pan shien is an official, and the principle pursued is to do less and make fewer mistakes, but whenever there is a slight risk, Pan Shien would rather keep his mouth shut and choose not to express his opinion to save himself.
And the sad thing is that under the screening of the official atmosphere and system at that time, Pan Shien, an ambiguous and food-eating official, was able to rise all the way, not only as a university scholar and a military minister, but also became the best lucky and most favored person in the 300 years of the Qing Dynasty, but in fact, there was no difference between the imperial court and him, which confirmed what Su Dongpo said in ancient times: "I would like to have a foolish and rude child, and there is no disaster and no difficulty to the secretary of state."
