On the evening of November 9, the official press conference officially announced the production plan of the "Spirited Away" stage play, which was planned for 5 years and will be a gift for the 90th anniversary of The founding of Toho, and is scheduled to start in many places in Japan from March 2, 2022.
The "Spirited Away" stage play will be adapted and directed by John Kyrd, director of the musical Les Misérables, with the main cast including Chihiro: Kana Hashimoto and Moeshi Shiraishi, Shiraryu: Daigo Tiger Jiro and Hiroki Miura, Faceless Men: Koharu Sugawara and Tomohiko Tsujimoto, Rei: Misato miyu and Princess Haifeng, Boiler Grandpa: Tooroo Taguchi and Satosi Hashimoto, and finally Grandma Yu/Grandma Qian: Natsukimari and Park Lumi.
Spirited Away is a Japanese animated film produced by Studio Ghibli and directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki, first released on July 20, 2001. The content tells the story of a little girl who mistakenly broke into the world of the gods, and then experienced various twists and turns and successfully escaped from difficulties with a strong and indomitable heart.
The film was the highest-grossing film in Japanese history until it was surpassed by The Ghost Blade Theater Edition Infinity Train in December 2020.
