tale

Idiom Story: Kanaya Zojiao

During the Western Han Dynasty, when Emperor Liu Che of the Han Dynasty was four years old, the crown prince at the time was Liu Che's brother Liu Rong. Liu Che was made the King of Jiaodong by Emperor Jing. Liu Che's aunt, Princess Liu Yan, had a daughter nicknamed Ajiao, who was known to the world as Chen Ajiao. She was born noble, and was pampered as an empress from an early age, and Emperor Wu of Han also grew up from a young age.

The eldest princess Liu Yan often accompanied Empress Dou, and as an older sister, she often offered beautiful women to Emperor Jing, and Emperor Jing was also very fond of her sister, so the eldest princess could rely on her mother's favor and her brother's connivance to enter and leave the palace, and her power was beyond the reach of the empress and concubines in the palace.

One day, the eldest princess took Ah Jiao to Wang Jiao's residence to play, and she hugged Liu Che, who was not yet ten years old, and asked, "Will Cher Er want to please his daughter-in-law when she grows up?" ”

Liu Che said yes, and the eldest princess then pointed to more than a hundred maids of the palace around her and asked Liu Che which one she wanted, and Liu Che said no. Finally, the eldest princess pointed to her daughter Chen Ajiao and asked, "Is Ah Jiao okay?" Liu Che then smiled and replied, "Good! The eldest princess asked, "If you can marry Gillian as a wife, then how will you treat her?" ”

Liu Che said: "I will build a golden house for her to live in." The eldest princess was also very satisfied with this, so she consulted with the empress to marry Ah Jiao to Liu Che, and let the two get engaged first, and the empress was very happy to agree.

Emperor Jing of Han saw that his son had such courage and also agreed to this family affair. Later, Liu Che became emperor and married Ah Jiao, and built a palatial palace to fulfill the promise of his childhood. This is the origin of the idiom "Kanaya Zangjiao".

The marriage contract of "Kanaya Zangjiao" was also a turning point in the politics of the time. Because of her daughter's engagement, the eldest princess turned to full support for Liu Che, and the situation in the imperial court changed greatly. After some management by The Eldest Princess, Emperor Jing deposed the crown prince Liu Rong as the King of Linjiang, and degraded Li Ji to the Cold Palace to die. Soon, the emperor officially made Liu Che crown prince.

When Ah Jiao and Liu Che became adults, emperor Jingdi of Han and the eldest princess held a big wedding for them, and the two became a couple, and "Jinwu Zangjiao" also became a marriage legend that has been recited for thousands of years.

Later, Liu Che became emperor and married Ah Jiao, and built a palatial palace to fulfill the promise of his childhood.
