Qiao Nengming, former chief of the old cadre section of the Qiqihar City Procuratorate's former Political Department, was admitted to the hospital at the same time as Sha Tao, and he told reporters with deep affection about Sha Tao's work. He said that Sha Tao's heart will always be only carrying duty and the people.
In November 1979, Sha Tao was transferred to the public prosecution department of the Qiqihar Municipal Procuratorate. Appearing in court to support a public prosecution is a demanding and difficult prosecution business that requires confronting the accused and his or her defender in court. In order to better perform this work, Sha Tao not only studied legal knowledge, but also used his spare time to study political economy, philosophy, logic and criminal psychology, and wrote more than 200,000 words of notes on his experience.
I heard that the old Li of the Merisda Ouer District Procuratorate had a high level of business, and Sha Tao visited the door many times to study. Once, when he returned from the Fularki District, he got off the bus in the Meris District, and heard that Old Li had gone to Zhangdi House 40 miles away to appear in court, and he hurriedly hitched a ride there and sat in the auditorium to observe carefully. After the trial, Lao Li found Sha Tao sitting on the auditorium and said in surprise: "On a hot day, such a long way, I really didn't expect you to come." Sha Tao smiled and said, "I came to learn from you." ”
Sha Tao is like this, for his own business ability, always strive for excellence, always on the road to learning. His favorite movie was Lenin in 1918. Once, after watching a movie, he said to his wife, "In this film, I like Vasily the most, and I admire him from the bottom of my heart." You see how loyal he was to the cause of the Party and to its leader Lenin! Whenever the revolution needed it, he did not hesitate to rush up, never thinking about himself. We should be as selfless and fearless as he is! Later, Sha Tao wrote in his diary many times: "I want to live like Vasily and be a loyal defender of the people." That's what he said, that's what he wrote, and that's what he did.
One day in December 1981, when Sha Tao was riding a bicycle through the intersection of Zhonghua West Road in Jianhua District, Qiqihar City, he saw many people surrounded in front of a small restaurant, and he suspected that something might have happened, so he squeezed in to inquire. The surrounding crowd said that a few people had just fought in the hotel and injured the customers, but there was no police to take care of it. After Sha Tao heard this, he immediately asked the crowd where the beaters were going and their physical characteristics, and he hurried to ride after them. Near the No. 3 Middle School in Qiqihar City, he intercepted a beater and handed him over to the Beiqiao police station. After that, he returned to the second hospital of the city to find the injured person, comfort him, and tell the other party that the hitter had been caught.
Sha Tao had a younger brother named Sha Dan, who was sentenced to robbery and sent to a juvenile correctional facility. One day in August 1979, Sha Dan escaped from the detention center and came to Qiqihar to hide at his brother's house. Unmoved by his private feelings, Sha Tao conducted a serious criticism and education of his brother, immediately contacted the police station, and assisted the public security personnel in sending his brother back to the unintended office. Later, his brother escaped from prison again, and although he did not come to find Sha Tao, Sha Tao still actively cooperated with the public security organs and relevant departments to pursue him. In 1983, Sha Dan killed a man in Bei'an Prison, and the Heihe District Intermediate Court sentenced him to death with immediate execution. Before the judgment, the court considered that Sha Tao had done a lot of work in helping and teaching Sha Dan, so it specifically called to ask Sha Tao's opinion. Sha Tao replied: "First, my brother has committed a crime of murder, the crime is serious, and the death penalty is deserved; second, my parents are old and sick, afraid of being stimulated, so please notify me directly of the news after the execution of my brother's death sentence, and I will find an appropriate opportunity to slowly tell my parents in the future; third, please contact the hospital for autopsy purposes of the body, and our family will not go to anyone." Afterwards, he reported his brother's sentence to death to the party organization truthfully.

He does not seek fame and fortune, and always takes Lei Feng as an example
When the reporter answered the phone of Sha Tao's lover, Ms. Zhou Guiqin, Ms. Zhou emotionally told the past of more than 30 years, and countless images of Sha Tao helping others began to slowly emerge.
In 1970, an accident occurred at the then state-owned Jianhua Machinery Factory, resulting in many injuries. That night, Sha Tao couldn't sleep. Suddenly, someone in the hallway shouted: "Blood transfusion is urgently needed now, who agrees, go quickly!" After Sha Tao heard it, without a trace of hesitation, he got up in response, immediately rushed to the hospital to donate 300 milliliters of blood, and went to work as usual the next day. For this incident, Sha Tao wrote in his diary: "Today, I donated blood for burn workers, and some people said I was stupid. I think that's the way it should be. Thousands of martyrs have thrown their heads and spilled their blood for the people, and I have made such a sacrifice and what I have gained..."
Just three days before Sha Tao's death, on November 4, 1983, he went to visit his sick colleague Lao Ma on his way back from handling the case. He found that the radio of the old Ma family was broken, in order to make the old Ma who was sick at home not lonely, Sha Tao took the radio home, found someone to fix it, and then rode a bicycle to send the radio back to the old Ma family. When Lao Ma saw Sha Tao at the door of his home, he was surprised and moved.
Ms. Zhou said that Sha Tao has no concept of fame and fortune, and when others have difficulties, he never goes around and always helps wholeheartedly. In addition, he is also enthusiastic about public welfare and cares for young people.
On the eve of Children's Day in 1981, he sent a child protection public welfare organization 10 yuan of money he had saved to show his concern and support for the cause of children and young people, which he had not told anyone. It was not until later that the agency replied to Sha Tao and gave him a commemorative medal with a spring bud pattern that Sha Tao's family did not know.
Sha Tao once wrote in his diary: "Small things are not small, and there is spirit in small things." Live to do the revolution, dedicate your life to the people. In life, Sha Tao always takes Lei Feng as an example, does not seek fame and fortune, and regards the difficulties of others as his own difficulties.

Sha Tao has a pair of children, and on the day of the accident, the children accompanied their mothers to witness the scene of their father being salvaged from the water. They say that their father's character and sentiments have taught them to grow up to this day.
On November 7, 1983, just after a cold snap, a thin layer of ice formed on the artificial lake near Xihongqiao in Qiqihar City. At noon, two young people who lived nearby came to the center of the lake to collect the net, accidentally stepped on the thin ice and fell into the ice cave. The two brothers of one of the young people who fell into the water rushed to the rescue when they heard the news, and they also fell into the ice cave one after another.
At this time, Sha Tao just happened to pass by this place after work at noon. Seeing several young people in the ice cave in the center of the lake struggling to call for help, he did not hesitate at all, and picked up a wooden pole six or seven meters long and thick in the mouth of the bowl on the shore and quickly rushed towards the center of the lake. The family of the person who fell into the water was afraid that Sha Tao would encounter danger, and Sha Tao said: "Rest assured, it is all right." After saying that, he rushed to the center of the lake to save people. With the help of the people on the shore, Sha Tao and the family of the person who fell into the water struggled to rescue a person who fell into the water.
Since there were still 3 people who had fallen into the water and were not rescued, Sha Tao hurriedly went ashore to pick up another wooden pole and ran to the center of the lake for the second time. He had just left the shore more than ten meters, when suddenly, with a "whoosh" sound, the ice cracked again, and he fell into the cold water, and after a while, he surfaced from the lake. At this time, Sha Tao knew that the further he went, the greater the danger, but he did not flinch. He climbed out of the ice cave, placed the wooden pole horizontally on the ice, and grabbed the wooden pole to crawl quickly on the ice. When he was only seven or eight meters away from the three people who fell into the water, he was just about to stand up and hand over the wooden pole, the ice under his feet collapsed again, and he fell into the ice water more than 3 meters deep. The ice water froze his whole body, the ice ballast pierced his arms, the bright red blood mixed with the cold water, he shouted desperately: "Hurry to the police station to report, pull the wooden board to save people!" However, when the rescue boat broke the ice and arrived, Sha Tao was exhausted and frozen in the lake for more than an hour, sinking into the ice.
That day was cruel to Sha Tao's children. "When the uncles carried my pale father to the hospital, I followed. I was afraid I would never see him again. The corners of his mouth opened slightly, as if to tell me, boy, don't cry, listen to your mother, and be a useful person to society! Sha Tao's son recalled that in the years when his father left, he often missed his father, but he always felt that his father was by his side, and his father once loved his work so much, so selfless dedication and helpfulness, which was the most precious wealth left to him by his father, and his father never left them.
On December 22, 1983, the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province approved Sha Tao as a revolutionary martyr; on January 4, 1984, the Qiqihar Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Qiqihar Municipal People's Government decided to award Sha Tao the title of "Lei Feng-style Good Cadre"; on January 9, 1984, the Supreme People's Procuratorate awarded Sha Tao the honorary title of "Lei Feng-style Procuratorial Cadre"; on May 8, 1984, the Eighth Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ninth People's Congress of Qiqihar City adopted the Decision on Erecting the Statue of Sha Tao Martyrs. The Shatao Monument was built on the banks of the Liuyuan River in Qiqihar City. On July 26, 2006, the Qiqihar Municipal People's Government moved the Shatao Martyrs Monument and Bronze Statue to the West Manchurian Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery to let more people come to pay respects to him.
The heroic model is gone, but the spirit lives on. Sha Tao used his short life of 34 years to vividly explain what is the loyal defender of the people and what is the procuratorial cadre of the people. After Sha Tao's sacrifice, the Qiqihar City Procuratorate will organize cadres and policemen to pay homage to his tomb every year, and his spirit has always remained in the hearts of every procuratorial cadre and policeman!
