He was Sun Liren's deputy, and was unfortunately captured after leading an expedition and resolutely refusing to surrender

author:The Big Bang of History

Sun Liren is a well-known famous general, but in fact, there are some cadres under him who are also worth mentioning, such as his deputy Qi Xueqi, who is very worthy of respect by others and is known as the contemporary Wen Tianxiang.

Qi Xueqi and Sun Liren have been classmates since childhood, and later went to the United States for further study together, but the school is different, Sun Liren is the Virginia Military Academy, and Qi Xueqi is the Vicky Military School. After returning to China, the two came together again, and they both worked in Song Ziwen's Tax Police Corps, when Qi Xueqi's position was the chief of staff of the Police Corps.

Because the Taxation Police Corps was a uniform piece of american armament, and its combat effectiveness was perhaps even stronger than Chiang Kai-shek's regular army, the red-eyed Chiang Kai-shek drove him abroad for investigation on the grounds that Soong Ziwen had participated in the battle privately, and at the same time incorporated this elite unit under his command as the 38th Division. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, this unit was incorporated into the Expeditionary Force by Chiang Kai-shek, and Qi Xueqi was the deputy commander of the 38th Division.

When the 38th Division first entered Burma, it made a great contribution, when a group of Americans and British were trapped in the Yenangqiang area, the 38th Division was ordered to go to the rescue, not only rescued the trapped people, but also defeated the Japanese army, and the expeditionary force suddenly became famous. The victory of this battle was due to the careful planning of Qi Xueqi, so after the war, Qi Xueqi was also commended by the commander-in-chief of the British army.

However, in the process of Qi Xueqi's order to go to Casa to direct the battle, he lost contact with the Fifth Army during the retreat, and the 38th Division could not be contacted. What slowed down the march even more was that Qi Xueqi encountered many wounded soldiers on the way to retreat, Qi Xueqi regarded them as his brothers, and everyone had to take them, and as a result, the Japanese army quickly caught up with this disabled division.

After being chased by the Japanese army, Qi Xueqi was ready to be martyred, but in the battle, a shell exploded next to him, Qi Xueqi was unconscious on the spot, and when he woke up, he had become a prisoner of the enemy army.

Knowing that Qi Xueqi's official position was very high, the Japanese army wanted Qi Xueqi to surrender, and used either tough or lure methods, but Qi Xueqi never wavered, and finally even won the respect of the Japanese, and decided not to kill him but to put him in a prisoner-of-war camp in Rangoon. The news spread back to China, and the country referred to Qi Xueqi as the contemporary Wen Tianxiang.

Qi Xueqi then began his captive career in the Yangon prisoner-of-war camp, but it was infuriating that scum like Cai Zongfu, Zhang Jixiang, and Wang Qinghua brutally killed General Qi Xueqi in order to survive and ask the enemy for merit.

The news of Qi Xueqi's murder spread back to China, and the whole country was filled with grief and indignation. In recognition of Qi Xueqi's integrity, Chiang Kai-shek posthumously awarded Qi Xueqi the rank of lieutenant general in the army, and sent special personnel to move the remains of General Qi to his hometown of Changsha and bury it under the Yuelu Mountains.
