17 years ago today, a song "Great China" was sung all over China, and the musical genius Gao Feng died of a strange illness
"We all have a home, the name is China, there are many brothers and sisters, the scenery is good, there are two dragons in the house, it is the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, and Mount Everest is the highest slope."
This song is the well-known "Great China", and the person who sings this song is Gao Feng.
Gao Feng, formerly known as Gao Yanchi, was born on July 24, 1968 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, to musician parents. Gao Feng began to perform on stage when he was in elementary school, but music was only his hobby, and his dream was to become a painter.
In 1986 (at the age of 18), Gao Feng was admitted to the sculpture major of the Central Academy of Fine Arts as he wished. Soon after, he participated in the campus karaoke competition and won the championship in one fell swoop. Since then, he has become a literary and artistic activist in the college, often participating in performances, and has a small reputation. He also participated in many evening performances organized by the TV station and became a supporting singer.
In 1990 (at the age of 22), after graduating from university, Gao Feng found an art job in the Oriental Song and Dance Troupe, but soon resigned. He had no job, no household registration, and became a member of the North Drifter. He lives in an unheated rental house, plays music and sings for a living.
In 1991 (at the age of 23), Gao Feng joined a music company and recorded his first solo album" "The Night After You Left", which was dominated by melancholy love songs and reflected well. Later, he sang theme songs for popular dramas such as "Joke about Qianlong" and "Imperial City Roots". However, the good times did not last long, the youth idol group "Little Tiger Team" swept the Chinese music scene, and Gao Feng's music was shelved for a long time.
In 1993 (at the age of 25), Gao Feng terminated his contract with the company and became a freelance musician. He put all his energy into songwriting, composed "Spring" and "Don't" for Li Lingyu, and also tailored his famous song "Spring Water Flow" for Huang Gexuan, which was sung all over the streets.
Gao Feng has also become a celebrity in the music circle, and more and more people are looking for him to compose music, and they are overwhelmed. Later, Gao Feng created Hongxia's "Let the Past Fly", Si Nong Siyu's "Double Flying", Old Wolf's "Beauty Plan", etc., showing his talent in composition.
In 1994 (at the age of 26), Gao Feng signed a contract with EMI Records and released his heirloom single , "Great China".
It is said that one day, Gao Feng passed by the Beijing Railway Station, just when the big bell of the station rang, telling everyone what time it was, and then the melodious music of "Dongfang Hong" was heard. A word popped into his head——— Great China." Gao Feng returned home, and within two hours, a song "Great China" was completed.
"Great China" in the style of campus folk songs sang the colorful rivers and mountains of the motherland, and sang the national self-esteem and pride of the Chinese.
It just so happened that CCTV's "Oriental Time and Space" music TV was revised, and Gao Feng's "Great China" was selected as the main song of the program. Since New Year's Day in 1995, this "Great China" MTV has been broadcast as the number one work in "Oriental Time and Space", and has quickly become popular all over the country and the land of Shenzhou.
Since then, Great China, Great Shanghai, Great Beijing, Great Hebei, Great Zhuzhou... have become the proud titles of every place.
This song allowed Gao Feng to walk from behind the scenes to the front desk and was well known to the audience. Gao Feng ushered in the peak of his career and boarded the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 1996. He has released three solo albums, as well as many high-level singles and film and television drama theme songs.
In 1998 (at the age of 30), Gao Feng once again appeared on the stage of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala and sang "Great China" with Andy Lau and others.
In the same year, "Stupid Child", composed by Gao Feng and sung by Andy Lau, turned out to be popular all over the country again. This song made Andy Lau win three awards in 1999: Top Ten Golden Songs, Top Ten Golden Songs, and Most Popular Chinese Songs, and Gao Feng's contribution was indispensable.
Later, Gao Feng created many songs for Andy Lau, such as "Flame Heart" and "Blame Me", each song is unique. Andy Lau honored Gao Feng as a teacher.
On September 19, 2002, gao feng, a musical talent, died of illness at peking Union Medical College Hospital at the age of 34.
The cause of his death is mysterious, the official illness is due to PCP viral pneumonia, and the folk legend is that he died of AIDS.
