The white-necked pheasant is distributed in southern Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan and Liangguang, south of the Yangtze River in China. It belongs to the national key protected animals~
The male is about 80 cm long and the female is about 50 cm. The head of the male is dark brown ; the hind neck and lateral neck are off-white ; and the chin , throat and fore neck are black. The upper back and chest are maroon and scattered with dark spots. The lower back and waist are black and shiny blue, with white transverse spots and feather margins. The feathers are brown or light maroon with fine lines. The tail feathers are long , olive-grey , with mostly broad maroon transverse spots , and a white belly. The mouth is yellowish brown and the feet are dark grey. Most of the female's body feathers are tanned. The upper body is covered with black markings , and the back has white sagittal spots.

The black long-tailed pheasant is found in Taiwan. It is found in central and eastern Taiwan. It is a bird specialty of Taiwan Province. Global Near Threatened (1994), a rare resident bird found in the mountainous areas of central Taiwan at an altitude of 1800 to 3000 meters.
Male bird ( 86 cm ) , upper back , thorax and lumbar feathers shine with a purple-blue luster and form a distinct scallop-shaped pattern with the central part of the jet-black pinnae. The tail feathers are black transverse spots and white. The wings are black with distinct white spots , with white ends of secondary and tertiary flight feathers. The skin around the eyes is crimson. The female is small, with grey underparts and brown upperparts, reddish-black and white stripes.
